Being an artist is a lot harder than it looks. Even work that looks like it required little to no skill still has value. Bc what looks like trash to one person is a masterpiece in someone else's eyes. The real skill is exercising graciousness when someone's art doesn't match your taste.

As I was painting Lady Galadriel, a life lesson sprung forth. I did a rough paint sketch on the bookmark surface and thought about how hideous it looked, even though it was par for the course. I simply wanted to get a bearing on the proportions.

As I kept going things began to smooth out, but I inevitably hit another bump in the road where I couldn't achieve the features I wanted. The perspective was skewed, everything seemed out of place, and I began to feel hopeless about achieving the final results I wanted. But I stuck in there, deciding I needed to step away from it, and I did for about two weeks.

When I came back, things began to run smoothly again. It's like I gave my mind time to sort through the complexities I couldn't manage before. This time I was victorious in achieving my goal.

So I've said all this to say...embrace the struggle. It's not there to tear you down but build you up and shape you into the best version of yourself.
