Huss & Dalton Statesboro Custom Deluxe, made with care and pride in Staunton, Virginia.

It features a stunning mahogany body capped by a torrefied AAAA maple top. Lindy Fralin Pure PAF pickups and premium components throughout. The iced tea Burstis subtle and allows the beauty of the wood show.

There's something special about a shop made guitar built by a small and dedicated team of craftsman that simply can't be replicated with a factory made instrument.

Come try one out and see for yourself.

New and ready for its forever home, this troublesomecreekguitars D-1 is a mighty powerful dreadnought. Constructed with a back and sides of Osage Orange (aka Bois d’arc) and a top of Appalachian Red Spruce, this Kentucky-made guitar is one of the coolest to have entered the shop. A big, full, and mighty voice, it also delivers punchy mids and well-balanced treble notes with clarity throughout its range. Come with a hard shell case. Will be cherished for generations.

This Ralph Luttrell T-100 resonator is in the shop on consignment, and it really wants to find its forever home. A great-sounding and great-playing instrument, the wooden body and closed well give this a far different voice than metal-body options. Ecuadorian rosewood back and sides with redwood top. Scale is 25 inches.

Sunday Studio Jam

Recording Artist’s Workshop (RAW) and Guitar Tex are hosting a Jam on Sunday, August 9, 5 pm to 7 pm at the RAW studio.

Location: RAW Studio — Address provided after RSVP, but in the McCullough corridor near Oblate.

Time: 5 pm to 7 pm (or thereabouts)

Acoustic or electric, this is an opportunity to have some fun, try out some ideas, expand your community, and see what might happen.

The RAW studio is Scott Levy’s brainchild. Scott is a friend of our colleague Roberto Granado as well as a friend and neighbor of Mark Hiebert. Located just a bit north of Guitar Tex, the RAW studio is easy to reach from the McCullough Ave corridor. The specific address will be provided to those who RSVP.

Guitar Tex will provide refreshments and will bring along at least a couple of fun things to check out.

If you are planning to participate, then bring at least the following:

1 - Yourself
2 - Your instrument

If percussion is your thing, Scott has a great drum kit. You are welcome to bring cymbals and snare, but bringing a full kit is discouraged. Hand drums are welcome, too.

Electric players, you’re welcome to bring your own amp.

RSVP by email to [email protected] or text to 281-961-304 by Midnight on Friday. Let us know what manner of instrument you will be bringing and how many people so we can plan appropriately.

You can learn more about RAW at recordingartistsworkshop.com.

Guitar Tex is online at GuitarTex.com as well as on Facebook (bexarfrets) and Instagram (guitartex_official).

Taken in trade, this Regal Resonator is recently into the shop. It feature a spun 9.5″ aluminum resonator with biscuit bridge; body is steel Triolian-style with antiqued nickel-plated finish. Good-looking and good-sounding, it also feels a good bit less cumbersome than some other metal-body instruments.
