Twenty-five years ago today - April 5, 2001 - I began my journey into customizing police cars. There wasn't much to offer then in 1/24th scale aside from the Classic Metal Works Crown Victoria and Maisto 2000 Chevrolet Impala. We even used the plastic Revell 1990s Chevy Caprice for customs. But, I managed to make a go of it, gradually getting into 1/43rd scale cars in 2003 and 1/64th scale in 2023. I literally do not know how many cars I have made in 25 years but it's well into the thousands.

Things were very primitive back then when it came to decals so we made do with what we could get or find. If you wanted a specific pushbar - you built it from scratch. No 3-D printers were available. People like Dave Panek and one or two others were all we could find for customized lightbars - or you made them yourself.

Now is truly the golden age for police customs. So many options are available now in terms of diecast cars, pushbars, lightbars, and decals.

For those of you who've known me for a long time or a very short time - thank you for your friendship along the way. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon; I wanted to take a moment and reflect on a milestone.
