One of my favorite things about group travel, is the in between times… the drives to and from, the shared meals, the getting ready. It’s all so fu***ng joyous and one of the things I miss most after a trip.
This video was taken on the walk home, just Mel & me, after my last breakfast in Oaxaca. We stumbled upon a Boda 🦋🇲🇽 & it was the absolute perfect end cap to my visit.

I sold artesania earrrrrrly on, and have always carried it in some form. I’ve learned a lot along the way, and now even more so with friends like Arlene Saldana Galindo Melissa Rojas & Edge81 Jewelry Studio & Permanent Jewelry . It’s always been so important to honor artesanas as not only artists, but also businesses. No haggling, no bargaining.
Oaxaca is like the grand capital of artesania, with art work mixing into the city, not as a guest or installment, but as a permanent piece of its beauty, as natural as the mountains surrounding it. We get to bring tiny relics home to share, but being there is like nothing else!

I saw the post at 9am, took the tour at 11am, had the keys in my hand at 2pm… & I just knew I found our new home.
But let me tell you … there was resistance 😂! Some eyes shifted, some questioned why I’d leave the North Star area (iykyk) for the South Side.
But then there were the deep conversations of support, and I think Desi said it best, “It’s about time Very That is on the South Side”.
Leaving early was a blessing, opening these doors was an even bigger one, and the community that has blessed my life since … the cherry on top of it all. I love where I’m from, always have! I’ve written love letters to the South Side for a long time ❤️!
