When we came back for the rest of this house, they ran a bulldozer over it. On purpose. Just to be mean.
This is the Jonas House. It came from a farming area off Schertz Parkway, where the Jonas family lived and farmed for a very long time. It's from the early 1900s.
When developers bought up that land to build a neighborhood, they named it Jonas Woods after the family. But the old house itself was going to be lost if someone didn't save it.
So we brought it here and restored it.
The day we got it, the bulldozers were already waiting.
We took what we could, and when we came back the same day for the canopy, they'd run right over it. There was no reason for it. They knew we were coming back.
Today the Jonas House has a whole new life as the photography studio of , a truly fantastic photographer here in the village.
Follow along, because we actually have a way to reach the Jonas family, and we're hoping to bring them back out here to tell us the rest of the story themselves.
