I had the honor and privilege of meeting Judy Heumann and winning the Heumann-Armstrong award. Her passing weighs heavy on my heart. There is a vacuum, a void with her passing. When I learned on Saturday my hero was gone, it was bittersweet, as I had just finished presenting at the Cal-TASH conference with my best friends. I felt a presence while I was on stage. They say you should never meet your heroes, but they have never met Judy Heumann. She is larger than life. I pledge to continue her work. Join me!
