I first met Sean years ago at makers markets around San Diego.

I was sewing board bags and selling them anywhere that would have me. Sean would be there helping his girlfriend (now wife) sell air plant jellyfish!

We’d trade a few words, share a few beers, and be on our way.

Fast forward to now: Sean needed bags for a family road trip up the coast and we reconnected.

He mentioned he’d been reading the WSJ series and loved it — so naturally, I asked if he’d like to get in on one…

Sean is exactly what FARO wants to stand behind: Surfer. Family man. Genuinely good human.

Years ago, when I was teaching myself how to sew board bags, I stopped by Grain’s old Amagansett pop-up shop, not to sell bags, but to study some of their board outlines for inspiration.

One of the guys recognized me from Instagram and asked if I could bring back a couple of samples to potentially sell in the shop.

At the time, we had no samples, I’d only sewn a handful of bags and wasn’t even sure I could fulfill an order if they liked them.

A couple of bags turned into a relationship that’s continued ever since.

Fast forward, and you can now find FARO gear on the shelves at the Grain workshop in York, Maine.

If you find yourself close by, stop in, say hello to the crew, and check out FARO (along with all of the other boards and craftsmanship Grain is known for). 🤙

AND if you’re around September 19th, come see us at Grains Re-Evolution event.

FARO will be popping up alongside some incredible artists and vendors... it might just be the best surf event on the East Coast this fall.
