P**a
The p**a, pípá, or p'i-p'a (Chinese: 琵琶) is a traditional Chinese musical instrument, belonging to the plucked category of instruments. Sometimes called the "Chinese lute", the instrument has a pear-shaped wooden body with a varying number of frets ranging from 12 to 31. Another Chinese four-string plucked lute is the liuqin, which looks like a smaller version of the p**a. The pear-shaped instrument may have existed in China as early as the Han dynasty, and although historically the term p**a was once used to refer to a variety of plucked chordophones, its usage since the Song dynasty refers exclusively to the pear-shaped instrument

PIANO (3 YEARS OLD AND UP)

Piano is definitely in most people’s childhood bucket list and one of the main starter instruments chosen by parents. But, be warned, it’s not for everyone. Learning takes practice and it’s very hard to actually play songs from the get-go. However, there’s nothing as fun as watching a toddler discovering that banging on keys actually produces sound, even if most pianos for toddlers are just giant xylophones in disguise. Also, learning piano works best when one of the parents already knows how to play, or if a tutor is involved. Keep that in mind if you ever want to graduate to a full-size grand piano!

Baroque Oboes

The bore of a Baroque Oboe is wider than its cousin, the modern oboe. Because of the bore size, Baroque Oboes are much easier to differentiate between themselves and other oboes. It’s also an octave or half an octave lower than the others.

Like all oboes, it is a double-reed instrument, with shorter and wider reeds within the mouthpiece to accommodate the larger bore. Also, like other oboes, it is a very loud woodwind instrument.

Tongue Drum

Also known as the hank drum or tank drum, the tongue drum is a fairly recent addition to the percussion family. Though it has a number of predecessors, the drum’s most noteworthy forefather made its appearance in 2007.

You might not tell it’s a drum by looking at it. The tongue drum looks more like an ornament than a musical instrument. In addition to its visual excellence, this cool musical instrument also has lots to offer in terms of acoustics.

Part of the reason why it makes the list of bizarre instruments has to do with its design, which informs the drum’s name. Its top typically features between seven and ten tongues which cut right through the surface. These may vary in length for pitch variation and one can use mallets or fingers to play tunes.

Hyperbass Flute

How about that for some seriously low-end flute? This aptly named flautist foghorn is the largest member of the flute family, containing over 15 metres in piping. It's a relativeley new instrument and, according to early reports, the tone is still under refinement as it's a bit growly. We don't care. It's massive and weird.

Nagfani

Nagfani that literally translates to snake hood is an instrument made of brass tube with a serpent stylized head. Commonly seen around being carried by holy men, it was widely used by ta***ic or mantrik ritual performers, because of the power harnessed by invoking the serpent which coil around the neck of Siva, Hindu god. Usually found in the western regions of the country, especially in Gujarat and Rajasthan; this bold and beautiful instrument is now on the verge of extinction.

Yotsudake is a percussion made of bamboo and has about 10cm in length. It is played for folk performing arts, kabuki theater, court dance in Okinawa. The dancer holds two bamboo plate on each hand and makes a sound by hitting them each other.
