We had a funny thing happen at our Pacific Beach store recently. 🌿
One of our customers came up to us and asked: “Do you guys have a section for natural fiber clothing?”
At first, we were a little caught off guard. No one had ever asked us that before.
But the more we talked, the more we realized... we actually could make that happen.
Because every single piece that comes through our store is already being touched, sorted, inspected, and processed by our team. We’re already checking quality, style, and fabric composition every day. So separating pieces made from cotton, linen, wool, silk, and other natural fibers wouldn’t be too hard of a task to do.
So we decided to try it.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve started building out a dedicated natural fibers rack in-store, along with green hanger tags and price tags throughout the shop to help customers spot additional natural fiber pieces while browsing.
We haven’t seen many thrift stores doing this. We don’t have some perfect blueprint for how it should look. We’ll probably learn and adjust as we go, so bear with us while we do. But sometimes progress starts by simply being open enough to listen to an idea and curious enough to give it a shot.
This whole experience reminded us that some of the most meaningful changes don’t come from giant corporate overhauls or massive campaigns. Sometimes they come from a five-minute conversation across the counter.
And as a small business, that’s one of the coolest parts of what we get to do. We can listen in real time. We can evolve with our community. We can experiment. We can stay curious.
More than anything, we took this as a compliment. A reminder that people feel comfortable enough in our space to share ideas with us, collaborate with us, and help shape what Bridge Thrift can become. That kind of community trust means everything to us.
