Today, we’re especially thankful for the talented artisans, volunteers, partners, supporters, and friends who give their time, creativity, and heart to our mission.

Gifted Back shows up in many ways—from pop-up shops and art workshops to collaborations that bring students and community partners together.

Recently, Gifted Back, the Museum of Us, and USD’s Engineering Exchange for Social Justice (ExSJ) came together to explore new ways to make art more accessible to the blind and low vision community. 🎨

Curated in collaboration with the University of San Diego and Gifted Back, the evening also raises funds to support projects benefiting the blind and low vision community.

We’ve been a little quiet over here… but for good reason! 💙

What a year it’s been for Gifted Back! We’ve been busy creating, connecting, and celebrating the talents of the blind and low vision community.

✈️ Taking Gifted Back on the road to Pennsylvania for a ceramic workshop at Creative York

✨ Creating together at Rio Hondo Community College for a mosaic workshop

🌉 Partnering with the Glaucoma Research Foundation and participating in their annual Patient Summit in San Francisco

🌹 Collaborating with the Braille Institute and getting creative with their Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Riverside Youth Programs in a ceramic workshop

🤝 And continuing to build new friendships and partnerships along the way

After a busy first half of the year, our team is enjoying a little breather before we jump into preparations for In the Dark 2026. We can’t wait to share what’s ahead!

What happens when community, creativity, and collaboration come together? ✨

Led by mosaic artist Rene Vazquez, community members designed and created 50 mosaic stone pavers that now serve as a colorful pathway in Rio Hondo College’s newly created community garden.

✨We loved watching guests create their own ceramic roses alongside blind artisan Jennifer Finlan, whose artistry and passion inspire others to explore the beauty of creating beyond sight. Each rose was uniquely crafted, reminding us that art has the power to bring people together and celebrate different ways of experiencing the world.
