A lil’ about me 🙂 I’m Liv and I’m an artist🎨My work (like me) is inspired by nature, wellness, and community. My journey as an artist and human has introduced me to supportive people & communities, gorgeous landscapes that leave me in awe, and outlets that have provided peace in times of stress/overwhelm (making art, hiking, playing music, beach combing, etc:) 🌊 🌼🌿🥾🎨 🎶

I’ve learned so much about myself in the past few years in my transition from being an art student in college to moving across the country from Maine to California with my now husband🌞 Navigating life as an artist, teacher, wife, nature-lover, anxious girly, cat mom, and so many other identities all rolled into one 🫶🏻I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. I continue to learn & grow, meeting kind people along the way and discovering new corners of the world that make me feel seen, in each/all of my shapes and forms🌼🌿

Turmeric Sunprinting🌿🌞

The process was simple, accessible, and had a wow factor to it, which…come on, who doesn’t love?? 🙂

In case you want to try it, too…

1. Create your dye solution by mixing rubbing alcohol & turmeric and apply it as a wash to your paper (I used watercolor paper). Let it dry before adding plants.

2. Take your dried, orange colored paper outside in direct sunlight. Arrange your plants/natural materials (the flatter the better) on your paper. Place a piece of glass/plexiglass on top of them to keep them flat against the paper.

3. Wait a few hours to let the exposure happen before rinsing your papers with baking soda & water mixture. This reacts with the print and darkens the coloring, creating more contrast for your sun print, turning it to a red clay color 🤗

And waaalaaa! Super easy, super exciting and super earthy 🌱 🌎 🌼 🌾🍂🍁🌿
