🏁 What a day! 🏁 We hosted a Baby Race. We served MOM-osas. We welcomed NYT bestselling author Sona Movsesian for the most chaotic, joyful, laugh-out-loud Saturday morning Library Shop Mission Hills has ever seen.

And our official Baby Race winner? "The Cheerios Chaser." Scroll through the photos, and you'll see why this was kismet: there's a Cheerio right there on the cover of "The World's Worst Mom." We could not have planned this if we tried.

Sona was candid, funny, and refreshingly honest about the beautiful disaster that is parenthood. The crowd was substantial, the mimosas were plentiful, and the babies were incredibly competitive for people who cannot yet walk.

Thank you to Sona Movsesian for being such a genuinely wonderful guest, and to everyone who came out and made this morning what it was. You are all, officially, the world's worst. And we mean that with our whole hearts.

Signed copies of "The World's Worst Mom" are available at both Library Shop locations and at libraryshopsd.com. Proceeds support the San Diego Public Library.

πŸŽΆπŸ“š Today we lost one of the greatest champions literacy has ever had. Dolly Parton didn’t just sing about mountains and dreams, or even Jolene, though we love those too. Her songbook is a library in itself, full of stories about labor, class, shame, pride, and women looking out for each other, storytelling and representation long before those things were easy to put in a song.

And she built a real bridge from those stories to the real world, one book at a time. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she mailed more than 200 million free books to children around the world, simply because she believed every kid deserves access to books at home, no matter their zip code.

Us too, Dolly, us too....

Tonight, we’re grateful for the stories she gave away for free, both the ones she sang and the ones she mailed to kids’ homes, and for how many kids grew into readers because of her.

πŸ’› Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, and for the books.
