The idiom “bells and whistles” refers to extra, showy features that are not strictly necessary and this skirt has them all. 1950s Playful Puppies Dirndl Skirt. Cutest doggy novelty print on black cotton dirndl with all the trimmings. Actual goldtone bells dangling around the puppies collars. Rhinestone eyes. And hanging from the waistband a yellow leather leash. Also an attached net underskirt. Although I have had this print in a skirt before, never with all its’ complete pieces. It’s a dog day afternoon- a hot, sultry, and sluggish summer afternoon where the intense heat makes people and dogs feel tired and lazy. The phrase comes from the “dog days” of summer—the hottest weeks of July and August linked to the star Sirius, also known as the dog star.

Straight pencil skirt with stand away hip pockets. Cummerbund style self fabric attached belt with buttons in back. Back metal zipper. Original 60s Shaheen sheath. Sleeveless with fitted waist and a self fabric tie belt with black tassels at the tips. Asian print box border print at hem and Japanese style circular designs. Mandarin collar. Back nylon zipper with hooks and eyes on the back collar. What should you know? Side red panels have been professionally added to widen the dress.
