This by was a kick to make and I cannot wait to give it to my beloved. Black denim is from and the lining was picked up from a rando fabric store in the . Hardware is from (they make it easy!) and Labels by Kylie And The Machine. It’s a genius pattern and I’m already planning my next.

A most treasured tradition is to attend the Dia de Los Mu***os festival near our hometown. I’m none too successful holding back tears to see the ofrendas, especially those in the trunks of the low riders. Seeing wingtip shoes in one brought on the tears this year. My dad always took great care to polish his when a big deal occasion arose. It’s good to remember those who have passed, even those who are not so easy to love.

Here’s an outfit I made this weekend: by Closet Core Patterns ( yummo viscose/linen) with a by Paper Theory (double gauze by JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores).

Sewing is so different these days. I’m trying to push myself to try patterns or fabrics that used to seem daunting. This by Helen's Closet Patterns is a familiar make, but I had to treat this lacy, sheer knit with kid gloves (and my walking foot!) to piece it together. I stabilized the shoulder with a narrow strip of thick interfacing. It wasn’t as scary as I expected and I love the results!

There’s nothing more comfortable than this by , a free pattern courtesy of . The print is rayon challis by . It’s got a dreamy drape.

I made a few mods. I seem to have issues with straps/shoulders like these falling. Any ideas for how to fix proactively? I was between size D and E. I cut an E but ended up taking in about an additional .5” on sides and at shoulders. I think a D would fit just fine (mega ease!). I added inseam pockets (thanks for the template, !) and have French seams throughout.

I kinda feel like a clown. But this jumpsuit is growing on me. ❤️🤡❤️

I don’t sew knits. ‘Cept when I do. 👀 I have a mental block with the stretch % stuff (these are 96%cotton/4% spandex from JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores). Translation: I had to size way up on these Helen's Closet Patterns (this is my 2nd pair…my first pair will be gifted to a lucky🍀 friend😉). I love love love this pattern but I’m a bit self conscious about showing my whole damn body. Besides, I need to show off my splurge from working hard teaching two summer courses. But stay tuned: I will def be making more.
