Japantown has been the cultural heart of the Japanese/Japanese American community in San Francisco and much of the Bay Area for over a century, serving a role that is unique to the city, region and country. As one of three Japantowns remaining in the country, the area’s cultural and historical resources are widely appreciated and play a significant role in the history of San Francisco and the region at large. Situated in the middle of the city, between downtown and the City’s western neighborhoods on the major transit corridor of Geary Boulevard, Japantown attracts people from all over the Bay Area to participate in community events, watch cultural performances, conduct business, shop and receive services. Japanese and Japanese Americans throughout the Bay Area depend on San Francisco’s Japantown as the focal point for community gatherings. The Japantown Community Benefit District (JCBD) is thrilled to host the Fleet Week Neighborhood Concert Series for our 6th year in a row! Join us for a lively, free public concert featuring the incredible Navy Band Southwest Brass Band. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to enjoy live music right in the heart of Osaka Way!

What are you adding to your udon today? 🥢

At Udon Mugizo, the noodles may be the main event, but there’s a whole lineup of tempura waiting on the side.

From familiar favorites like Shrimp and Squid Tempura to Maitake Mushroom, Pumpkin, Eggplant, and Broccoli, there are plenty of ways to build a different combination every time you visit. 🍤

And then there’s our original Corn Tempura. 🌽

Sweet corn wrapped in a crispy tempura texture makes it a little different from the classics — and definitely one worth adding to the table.

You can also try our Gyoza Tempura for another fun twist, or go with Assorted Tempura when choosing just one sounds too difficult.

Each selection is carefully prepared and fried in our kitchen, so you can enjoy tempura with that freshly fried, crispy bite.

Enjoy it on its own, take a bite between slurps of udon, dip it into your favorite broth, or order a few different kinds and share them around the table.

Shrimp today. Maitake next time. Maybe Corn or Gyoza after that.

When placed upside down, the cup takes the shape of Mt. Fuji. The bottom of the cup is also shaped like Mt. Fuji, so when you finish your tea, a beautiful Mt. Fuji surrounded by greenery appears!

We also have new stainless steel tea spoons and small plates for placing tea bags.
