Friday, September 11th from 7-9pm: Photography exhibit with California on the mind. Come see Frank Gaglione first ever solo show - and celebrate with the artist in community for an evening of music, refreshments and great art!

Sunday, September 13th from 10am-2pm: Strawberry matcha cookie? Yes! Try this and other unique flavors from local bakery Angela 👩🏻‍🍳 Home of the SF Sourdough Cookie! Starting with a sourdough starter, every cookie is made from scratch and baked in small batches.

Tuesday, September 22nd at 7pm: Calling all water women! We are creating a space this evening to cut through the clutter of our minds and find the truth in our stories. All levels welcome. Let by Farhana Huq, founder of brown girl surf. $15 entry.

Wednesday, September 23rd from 3:30-5:30pm: Just for teens event with free boba, book swapping, and bookmark-making. Bring a book (or two!) to trade and leave with new books and new friends!

Thursday, September 24th at 7pm: Bring your curiosity as we explore how cultural attitudes toward s*x, relationships, gender and pleasure have evolved. With a reading from a vintage 1940s s*x manual. Adults only event. Led by s*xologist, educator and author Myisha Battle.

🖊️ Black Bird Writing Club (1st Wed of every month): Time and space to write in community with fellow writers. Self-guided, bring pen and paper, laptop or journal. No instruction. Tea, snacks and w**e provided. $10 entry. RSVP with ticket.

🎤 Poetry + Prose Open Mic Night (2nd Wed of every month): Calling all poets, writers, scribblers and dreamers, this is your night to take the stand. First timers welcome! No stand-up comedy or music, signups start at 6:30pm. Hosted by local poet Laura Booth. FREE event.

September 5th: Stories, myths, fables and tall tales. Olive, Outer Sunset’s favorite storyteller, brings her talents and stories to enchant us all.

September 12th: Local author Anam Khan reads from her debut children’s book, Leena’s Pouncy Puppy, about a young Pakistani girl who loves to take care of her puppy.

September 19th: Local author Mac Barnett returns to Black Bird for an early release of his latest ‘Tom Nancy: The Sheep Who Swapped Brains with a Boy’, a hilarious trickster tale and Freaky Friday switcheroo story.

🎤 Poetry + Prose Open Mic Night (2nd Wed of every month): Bring your poetry or prose to this welcoming crowd who loves to hear from everyone: regulars, new faces, published writers, and folks who just wrote something on the bus here. Hosted by Laura Booth.

🐢 August 8th: Who doesn’t love a turtle with a sweet story? Local author Gefen Lamdan shares her story about how home isn’t just a place, but the company you keep.

🍲 August 15th: Local author Ivan shares a heartfelt intergenerational story where food becomes a vessel for memory, love, and belonging.

🐶 August 22nd: A young girl is afraid of dogs, and a small dog is afraid of children in this funny, bighearted picture book about overcoming fear to find friendship with local illustrator Isabella Kung
