Student Spotlight: Our brand newest students, Donna and Michelle!

Both of them have had some sewing experience in the past, but decided they are ready to expand their skills and really dive into a new hobby.

Today was our first class but they walked out with adorable drawstring bags and excitement to keep going🙌

Student Spotlight: Cat!

Cat and I have been working together since day one of her sewing journey. Starting with the absolute basics, she’s completed lots of progressively challenging projects. She recently finished this stinken cute romper for her first baby that she is expecting soon. 🥹

Ouch my fingies!
About 8 years ago, I was doing a corporate consulting gig that had me commuting to Texas a few times a month. The road gets repetitive and boring pretty quickly, so I bought a ukulele to fill my evening hotel time with something besides House Hunters International.

But once the job ended, so did my ukulele career😂

That poor lil guy has been sitting around doing nothing in a closet. Something told me I should give it another go and here I am, back at square one, learning the chords and killing my fingertips.

Learning an instrument is so humbling, but man, those little wins when it starts to make sense are so worth it. It’s also a great reminder of how people feel when they start sewing. Just threading the machine takes so much thought, practice and intention, fraught with errors.

You’ll get there, with repetition and practice. 🙌
Now who wants to hear my painful transition between C and G chords?😄

Student Spotlight: Big Fish Appliqué with Jess!

Her boyfriend had been sending inspo and dropping some not so subtle hints that he’d love an “I caught a fish and it was thiiiiis big” shirt.

Jess found the perfect shirt, worked out the appliqué pieces and 18,976 zigzag stitches later, the perfect birthday gift was done! 🪡🐟

I think it turned out so great and it was a super fun project - nicely done Jessika Preston 🙌
