After years of camping with friends and family, at some of the most epic and scenic campgrounds in the western USA, we wanted to roam a bit further. We longed to explore remote wilderness. We sought to comfortably explore destinations that wouldn’t require meticulously timed online reservations. We dreamed of piloting our outfitted Toyota down dirt roads, sandy beaches and rock-piled tracks; leaving noisy crowds and Reserve America in the dust. We wondered if we could be blissfully immersed in nature after having relished the journey. Could we truly be comfortable at our remote destination, which has none of the bells and whistles that one finds at most mainstream campgrounds? And if the answer was yes to these questions, could we then also bring along friends and family, our kids, and assure their safety and comfort as well? We are thrilled to say, we found that we can emphatically say YES to all of these questions. We’ve had such incredibly positive experiences embracing self-reliant adventure travel that we want to share our findings and products with you. In its extreme format this type of expedition is called ‘Overlanding,’ and in its more moderate form it’s called ‘Backcountry Exploring.’

Our goal for is to offer the very best Overlanding and Backcountry Exploring equipment to you and your family. There’s a growing community of outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy adventuring off the beaten path and setting up camp in remote, ‘inaccessible,’ locations. We agree with the growing community that the enjoyment lies in the gear prep, in the journey, and of course in the time spent at your destination. We recently installed an OutEquipPro 12V rooftop A/C and heater combo on this Tune Outdoor camper, adding 10,000 BTU of cooling to the build without needing to rely on shore power.

To support it, we built out the truck’s power system with a REDARC Electronics Alpha50R, 200Ah of battery capacity tucked cleanly behind the rear seat, and 200W of solar up top.

Compact 12V air conditioning is opening up some great new possibilities for truck campers and off-grid builds but getting the most out of it means having the electrical system to match.

Whether you’re looking to add A/C to an existing camper or want a complete power system designed around your build, we can handle the installation from start to finish.

One has an air fryer, induction stove, sink, heater, air conditioner, and an extremely comfortable king-sized HEST mattress. The other one has a big ol’ tire.. Both are 5.5ft beds, which one would you take?

A quick walk-around of this Grenadier build with our shop manager, Corey.

Lightweight, feature-rich, and extremely capable. We bolstered the INEOS factory dual-battery system with additional LiFePO4 capacity, with DC-DC charging handled by REDARC Electronics and solar power supplied by Merlin Solar®.

The Goose Gear ® seat delete and rear sleeping platform give the customer plenty of room to store their gear while still being able to sleep comfortably inside the vehicle.

ICECO Portable Freezer keeps food and drinks chilled, Rhino-Rack USA provides shade at camp, and The Scientists of Lighting lights the way when the sun goes down—all controlled independently through Switch-Pros.

We love seeing our customers getting out and enjoying their builds! Dirt Road Nomads recently took his Tune Outdoor equipped 3rd Gen Raptor from San Diego to the Rockies in Colorado. Equipped with a full suite of REDARC Electronics and an interior build out from Terra Quest Off-Road™️ featuring an air fryer, induction stove, and a kitchen sink, he certainly was not missing the creature comforts of home!
