Tried to make it to the tuna grounds last night but Mother Nature had other plans we bent her into the island and put a day together with the little bit of bait that lived after our roller coaster ride we ended our trip with 17 yellowtail and mucho taco meat for today’s overnight back out tonight in hopes of tuna!

Great day of island fishing nice wack on the yellowtail and calico bass with lots of taco meat to go with em every day is different back out tonight!

Bluefin are back! we had a great day on todays overnight trip! Dont forget to check out our September schedule we added a few 2 day trips and one 1.5 day in hopes of fishing for tuna!
TACKLE RECOMMENDATIONS if you are coming out on one of trips i know its a lot due to not knowing the bait situation but we recommend for fly line set up a
20/25/30/40 pound set up, the 20 pound set up one that u can easily cast out a small anchovies and all fly line set ups loaded with at least 100 yards of monofilament to avoid the spectra tangles due to conditions
A variety of plastics for example 1oz and 1.5oz hook up bait
A 80/100 pound set up incase we get into some night time bluefin
A variety of knife jigs
A variety of metal jigs all different sizes
A variety of yoyo and surface irons
A variety of sliding egg sinkers
Size 4,6,1/0,2/0,5/0 J hooks and circle hooks
20/25/30/40 fluro carbon line

Fishing has been interesting the past couple of trips nice volume of mixed grade yellowfin tuna have been moving in our zone with some dorado and for our bait situation every day has been different one or 3 days out of the week we get sardines and the other 2 or 3 small anchovies that we use to chum at night to snag mackerel and the small tuna that showed up in our overnight zone. Pretty soon the anchovies in our zone will be big enough to pin on a hook to fly line for a decent size tuna. Yesterdays overnight trip produced
172 small fun size Yellowfin tuna
7 grande size yellowtail with a-lot of casualties daily on them
And 46 bullet tuna !
The tackle recommendations i know its a-lot due to not knowing the bait situation but we recommend for a fly line set up a

Yellowtail fishing in the morning and then we bend her out offshore for the afternoon, lots of yellowfin tuna moved into our zone just a bit small so we keep on pushing until we find the right size!
Pretty much every kelp we hit offshore was holding dorado, yellowfin and yellowtail today.

20 mixed grade yellowfin tuna!
1 dorado
9 yellowtail up to 30 pounds
1 halibut
Handful of bass and barracuda please be sure to ad a 20 pound stick capable of flylining small anchovies and size 6 j hooks to your arsenal we were able to find a school of yellowfin tuna at the end of our trip and unfortunately we left em biting as we were out of time! And the last 2 yellowfin on flyline anchovies were better grade tuna.
