In a major plot twist the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case was a Black man. He was the only person of color on the jury.
This man is a hero and a brand new legend.
Eleven other jurors wanted Lindsay Clancy found not criminally responsible for killing her three children. Paula Devlin, one of that majority, said so on CBS Mornings. He would not go along. He stood there while they leaned on him. We thank him for standing up to that pressure.
Lindsay Clancy killed Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on January 24, 2023. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial last week after the jury hung 11 to 1.
Yesterday on Oprah a woman said people needed to rally around women of color who murdered their children. The audience clapped. Oprah nodded.
That narrative is literally insane.
This plot twist turns it upside down.
The one juror who would not excuse the killing of three children was the Black man in the room.
The pink-shirt crowd wanted a race story. They got one. It is not the story they wanted.
Murder is murder. The only thing that matters is the victims and that justice is done to the perpetrator.
Race does not rewrite the crime. A jury room is not a rally.
Equal application of the law means Cora, Dawson, and Callan count the same as every other murdered child.
The holdout understood that. Eleven others did not.
One man refused to call three dead children a mental health slogan. That is courage.
Do you still believe the holdout juror did the right thing by refusing to excuse the killing of three children?
