Here's the latest new song off Scott's new album, this one featuring the lead guitar work of Mike Thompson...

I'm finally getting around to posting the next song from my new album, a song titled "Dark & Light." My old buddy Mike Thompson provided some amazing lead guitar work on this song, and I think this is the best recording I've managed in a while. To listen for free, click here:

Here are the lyrics:

Dark & Light by Scott Wilburn ©2024

Sleeping or waking, giving or taking.
laughing or crying, living or dying
Evening or morning, rejoicing or mourning
Daylight or midnight, hindsite or foresite
Lost in the moment, lost in translation,
lost in the wilderness, lost in conversation,
lost in the shuffle, lost in thought
Lost in your eyes, lost without you
Joyful or sadness, sorrow or gladness
Trusting or doubting,
Silence or shouting
Distressing/fulfulling, saving or killing
Black or white, day or night
Heat or cold, dark or light
Lost in the moment, lost in translation,
lost in the wilderness, lost in conversation,
lost in the shuffle, lost in thought
Lost in your eyes, lost without you

A note from WCS Senior Partner Scott Wilburn:

I was just interviewed for a piece that KBNW 104.5 FM News radio out of Spokane is doing on the Sandpoint Parking issue. It is supposedly airing soon. I'm surprised that our little town is generating so much interest in the big city media. Here's hoping that telling our story helps in nudging Sandpoint's City Council toward a more reasoned fix of the very real parking issues we face here in the downtown!

When I find out when the air time of the program is scheduled, I'll post it here. Not sure if we can even get 104.5 FM on this side of the Selkirks, but we can try!

We received good news about the downtown parking issue! Here's what happened at the city council meeting last night:

1. The ordinance was tabled until next meeting, stopping the official language changes for now.

2. The parking plan will be reopened for discussion next meeting! Putting it back on the table allows for changes that the agenda tonight did not.

3. The parking kiosks in the 2-hour zone will be shut off until the next meeting. Our downtown streets are open again.

We sure hope that this is the beginning of a more reasonable approach to managing the downtown's very real parking issues, but in the meantime, we hope to get to see our friends and customers a little more often! Drop by and help us celebrate!

KXLY did what we consider to be an even and fair news story about our predicament as a downtown Sandpoint business being negatively affected by the new pay-for-parking system. Thanks to Natalie Keller!

SANDPOINT, Idaho -- A new paid parking system implemented in downtown Sandpoint this month is taking a toll on local businesses, with at least one shop reporting a dramatic drop

We haven't posted anything for a while, but this is important. Here is the text from an email I just sent to the mayor of Sandpoint:

"I am the senior partner in the Wilburn Custom Shop Music and More Store on the corner of N. 2nd Ave., and Church St. I would like to let you know first hand that your new parking policy is killing our business. We have been in business in downtown Sandpoint since November of 2014, and kept meticulous financial records of every month since we opened. Since you implemented the new parking system, our sales are down an obscene 75%. We have survived tariffs, two rounds of COVID, and having our old store sold out from under us, and we have survived. But it's looking like your ill-informed parking policy may accomplish what numerous other disasters have failed to do, and that is run us out of business. Congratulations on your accomplishment. Have a nice day."

If you value the small businesses in our town, you may want to send an email to the mayor of Sandpoint yourself. It's easy enough, just google: "email for mayor of Sandpoint" and it will take you to the portal.
