Good evening! It's Friday night, August 21st, which means that tomorrow is August 22nd, which means that tomorrow we'll be hosting a special Children's Storytime with author Jennifer Adams, creator of the popular BabyLit series of board book primers that pair works of classical literature with concept introductions for very young learners! This event will begin at 11:00 a.m.

There were some fun acquisitions this week that didn't make it into the preview because I'd always rather feature books for reading than books for collecting, although I love both! Among what hasn't been shown is a signed first printing of James Ellroy's classic noir
L. A. Confidential, a signed first printing of Orson Scott Card's Wyrms, and a first printing of Kristin Hannah's The Women, which is much less common than I would have expected.

As usual, if you see anything that you'd like, but can't make it into the store first thing tomorrow morning, don't hesitate to comment below. If it's still available at 10:30 a.m., I'll run through the comments and will put it on hold for you. If you're far enough away that it's not feasible to visit, it's worth adding that we will ship books anywhere in the world.

It's going to be another hot one tomorrow, but we're also going to keep the air running! We'll get through these scorching summer months one day at a time! Have a great night!

It's Friday night, and that means new titles!

Thank you all for being a part of life at The Printed Garden, for being a part of life at Daybreak Records and, for many of you, for being a part of both!

There are some really fun things in tonight's gallery; I hope you enjoy the short video! As usual, these books are available on a first come, first served basis for the first 30 minutes. If you see something you'd like, simply comment below. At 10:30 a.m., I'll sweep through the comments, pull the items you've requested, and will put them on hold for you. If you have questions about any of them, I'm also happy to jump in and share what I know, and explain why each is featured (I can't spend too much time with each in a two minute video 🤣).

A week from tomorrow, Saturday, August 22nd, we're excited to host a special Children's Storytime with children's book author Jennifer Adams. The storytime will begin at 11:30 a.m. We'll have an assortment of Jennifer's Babylit books, as well as her new picture book and, very likely, some chocolate chip cookies for the kids (who are we kidding - they're for the adults, too!).

Good evening!

I was so excited about the books that I acquired over the last week that it was difficult to decide which ones to feature on the display this week!

How can you go wrong with signed books by John Grisham, Michael Pollan, Alexander McCall Smith, Jim Butcher, and others? How can you go wrong with those sturdy little Library of America editions that are just the right size and come with a built-in bookmark? Finding a nice first printing of the first book in Colson Whitehead's Harlem trilogy, Harlem Shuffle, just a couple weeks after the final volume, Cool Machine, hits the shelf, felt really lucky! George Saunders? Kendrick Lamar? All great stuff!

And just to make tomorrow even cooler, we'll be hosting a special children's storytime with author Jennifer Adams, creator of the popular BabyLit board books for little readers, and author of the new picture book, The Highly Sensitive Rabbit!

As usual, the books will be available first come, first served, and at 10:30 a.m., I'll run through the comments to see if anyone's requested anything in particular. If you see something you'd like me to put on hold for you, let me know, and I'll pull it at 10:30!

Hello, bookish friends! It's Friday, July 24th, and I'm excited to show you some really great new titles that we've brought into the bookstore this week.

It's been a busy week. Tomorrow is the last day of our five day Midsummer Sale - everything in the store will be 30% off for one more day - until we close at 6 p.m. The Midsummer Sale is our way of letting you know that we're grateful for your business and your friendship.

As usual, the first thirty minutes these books will be available on a first come, first served basis. If you see something you're interested in, just message below - at 10:30 a.m., I'll run through the messages, will pull any requested books, and will put them on hold for you.

I hope you've all had a wonderful Pioneer Day and look forward to seeing you when you next visit our little bookshop!

Good evening, bookish friends! It's Friday night, July 17! I'm back from vacation, and have spent the last few days refilling the shelves with great books!

Here are a few of them . . .

As usual, for the first 30 minutes, tomorrow morning when we open, these will be available on a first come, first served basis - but if you see something that you'd like me to put aside for you, just let me know in the comments. At 10:30 a.m., I'll read through the comments and will pull your requests and confirm that I have them on hold for you.

We had a terrific book club meeting in the store tonight after close, and spent some time unpacking the 20th Century Japanese classic novel The Woman in the Dunes by Abe Kobo. If you read it, and forgot that tonight was the night, let me know the next time you're in the store. I always say that the best bookshops are 10% barbershop - we'll talk about it.

I hope you've been able to stay out of the heat! Drink a lot of water, and drop by the shop - David and I will have the air conditioning running! Have a terrific night!

Special Guest - David Paul!
The amazing Aaron Cance had the chance to go home to Wisconsin too visit family for the week. We wanted to help keep things open for him! He will be back Tuesday. The store will be open from 10-6 this Saturday and It just so happens to be the 2 year anniversary of Daybreak Records and The Printed Garden joining forces! Come out and celebrate with us, grab a book, browse some records and get out of the HEAT!!! 🔥

I want to say how great of a person Aaron is... Not only did i get an amazing business partner, i got an incredible friend in the deal! In the comments let him know a favorite memory you have of the store, book you found, or just let him know how much you appreciate him and what he does!

Good evening, bibliophiles! It's Friday, June 26th, and I have a whole new gallery of terrific new secondhand arrivals to show you!

As usual, the first half hour when we open tomorrow, these will be on a first come, first served basis, but if you see anything in the video that you'd like, let me know below. At 10:30, I'll scroll through and pull any requested books, and will put them on hold for you!

Our next preview video will be on Friday night, July 17th. Over the 2025 Christmas holiday, our family was unable to travel to Wisconsin where our family is, so we'll be making a summer trip instead to see everyone. David and Chucky will be keeping the store open our regular hours, with an assist from my friend Ryan on Friday, July 10th. Both The Printed Garden and Daybreak Records will be closed on July 4th in observance of the Independence Day holiday. David and I hope you have fun . . . but not too much fun, as we'd like to see you again in the shop afterward! 😂

Good morning! I'd like to say that I've beaten my computer into submission, but it would be more honest to say that the video seems to have posted and, although I'm not sure why, I'm grateful that it did! 😂

It's Saturday, June 20th, and we have a new batch of brilliant secondhand arrivals at The Printed Garden. Among the other interesting things that we've taken in is a handsome set of Oxford World Classics that collects twenty of the greatest books ever written into a beautiful collection of little black cloth covered hardcovers with dust jackets. When someone says the word "literature" to you, and asks which books you'd consider such, you'll likely name off most of this set. The size is convenient: these books are bigger inside than outside, but I guess you can say that about most books.

As always everything will be available on a first come, first served basis for the first half hour. If you see something you'd like, but can't get into the store for a few days, or even a week, just comment below, and at 10:30, I'll run through the comments and will pull anything that's been requested.
