I wanted to take a moment to simply say thank you.
This past month has been a difficult one for my family with the loss of my father-in-law. If you've stopped by the shop recently, you probably know I haven't been very good at hiding it. Thank you to everyone who has listened, offered a hug, shared your own story, or simply shown kindness. It has meant more than you know.
On top of that, my son Jack, who leaves for college on August 14, will be having shoulder surgery this Tuesday to repair a torn labrum he suffered while playing water polo. For those of you who have followed his journey over the years, he won't be playing water polo at Chapman University this season. Instead, he'll remain part of the team while focusing on healing and coming back stronger over the next six months and beyond.
As a mom, it's been heartbreaking to watch him navigate this setback. At the same time, I know life has a funny way of teaching us lessons we never would have chosen for ourselves, and I truly believe he'll come out stronger because of it.
So if you stop by the store over the next couple of weeks and I seem a little emotional, it's probably because both of my kids are about to fly the coop. In just two weeks, my house will be quiet for the first time in over twenty years. I'm incredibly excited for the lives they're beginning, but if I'm honest, my heart is having a hard time catching up.
