Generations of Unicorn family magic! ✨

Teri, the Founder of Unicorn Clothing, built something beautiful in this line of handmade (in the US) Renaissance clothing.

Her legacy carries on today through her sister, Jama, and Jama's granddaughters, Madison and Elora.

Kelle, Teri's younger sister, is managing the production shop in California.

It is truly a family affair.

✨ Renaissance Fun Fact ✨

The word “Renaissance” means “rebirth,” and it refers to a period of renewed interest in art, learning, literature, science, music, and classical ideas in Europe after the Middle Ages.

Many Renaissance faires are inspired by 16th-century England, especially the Elizabethan era — the time of Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare, courtly pageantry, traveling performers, markets, music, and dramatic clothing.

But modern faire culture is also wonderfully playful. Depending on the faire, you may see nobles, peasants, merchants, knights, pirates, fairies, fae folk, wizards, Vikings, belly dancers, musicians, and all sorts of magical wanderers.

So, while faire has roots in history, it is also part theater, part marketplace, part living history, part fantasy, and part invitation to become someone a little more enchanted for the day.

That is part of the magic:

Unicorn Clothing Company was founded over 50 years ago with a deep love of craftsmanship, history, and beauty.

Recently, we lost our eldest sister, Teri, the heart and spirit of Unicorn Clothing. In the wake of that loss, we made a choice not to close the doors, but to carry her work forward.

As her sisters, this is deeply personal to us.

Jama has been part of Unicorn for over 50 years, serving as manager at the Colorado Renaissance Festival and helping shape the experience so many of you know and love.

Kelle brings her path as a healing practitioner and founder of The Healing Portal, carrying forward a deep reverence for beauty, intention, and human connection.

Together, we are honoring what Teri built, supporting the people she gathered around her, and keeping the magic alive.

You may begin to notice subtle new threads weaving their way into the collection… a touch of crystal, a hint of enchantment, especially within our children’s pieces, where magic has always lived.

This season, when you step into our booth, you’re not just stepping into a shop. You’re stepping into a legacy.

This month, we're thrilled to honor our dedicated team member, Ace! Clocking in an impressive 7 years of service, Ace has truly become the heartbeat of our workshop.

Ace has an uncanny talent for finding the coolest spots in our Renaissance haven. Whether it's a sunbeam streaming through a window or the comfiest nook in the corner, Ace knows where the magic happens.

While Ace understands the importance of hard work, he's also a staunch advocate for a healthy work-life balance. His timely reminders ensure that we don't fall victim to the tricks of daylight savings, making sure everyone gets their much-needed daily walks.

Rumor has it that in a past life, Ace might have been a fire truck or an ambulance. We get a peek into that life in time every time his soulful howls fill our workshop.

Ace, we are truly fortunate to have you as a part of our unique and dynamic work family. Your unwavering dedication to squirrel chasing, spot finding, walk reminding, and melody providing make you an exceptional employee of the month.
