For anyone new here, I’m Rae, the hands behind Sattva Metals.
The name Sattva was inspired by my sweet pup, Bodhisattva who I named for the way she truly helps bring me towards enlightenment each day I get to spend with her.
Sattva itself is a Sanskrit word meaning purity, goodness, harmony and balance, something I wish to achieve in my work and in my everyday life.
Sattva Metals has always been an extension of the things I’m drawn to: balance and imperfection, natural forms, old silver, beautiful stones, and the satisfaction of making something entirely by hand.
What started as a creative outlet has slowly become something I want to give more space to. More time at the bench. More experimentation. More pieces that feel distinctly mine.
There’s something incredibly grounding about working with my hands. Taking metal, stone, heat and a handful of tools and turning them into an object that can become part of someone’s life. I think that transformation is what keeps pulling me back to the bench.
I’m still figuring out exactly what Sattva Metals will grow into, and I’m realizing I don’t need to have the whole thing mapped out yet. I just know I want to keep making, keep learning, take more creative risks, and build a body of work that feels increasingly like my own.
This little studio has become the place where all of that begins. ⚒️
