Charlotte Jackson Fine Art

Joins us Friday, from 5-7 PM for the Opening Reception for the Artists of "STILL FRIENDS AFTER ALL THESE YEARS: Charles Arnoldi, Ron Cooper, Laddie John Dill"! The gallery will also host a Gallery Talk: "A Conversation with Charles Arnoldi, Ron Cooper, Laddie John Dill, and Rani Singh" on Saturday, from 2 - 4 PM and the exhibition will be on view through October 10th, 2026.

The colors sink deep into you. The heat of a gouache red. The radiant blue glow of light in a glass tube. The shimmering gold of pearlescent pigment on Plexiglas. The forms and formats as distinct as the techniques. Yet these works of art, large and small, all somehow find their way inside the viewer - shifting, shaping, answering questions we hadn't thought to ask.

These works are by three renowned artists who emerged out of the California Light and Space movement of the early 1970's whom Charlotte Jackson met and showed decades ago. As she notes: "In 1987, I curated an exhibition featuring three artists: Charles Arnoldi, Ron Cooper, and Laddie John Dill. Thirty-nine years later, all three are still making art—and still friends. I had forgotten about the 1987 exhibition until Ron Cooper’s registrar found the catalog and sent it to me. That discovery immediately inspired me to bring the three artists together again."

By the time of that 1987 show, the three artists had already known each other for about twenty years, having met somewhere between the halls of Chouinard Art Institute and the industrial warehouses and artist lofts of Los Angeles in the 1960's. Each skilled, hungry, and with a restless energy that helped to propel them headlong onto the world stage as rare artistic talents. "Still Friends After All These Years" once again brings together works, old and new, from all three luminaries, whose art engages and challenges the perceptual experience of viewers.

El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe in New Mexico (🇺🇸)will present a remarkable collection of early Guna art in an exhibition running from July 31 – August 30, 2026. Organized by Geoversity Foundation, the exhibition will include mola textiles, sacred healing carvings, and ledger drawings dating from the late nineteenth century to 1970. Many of these rare and beautiful objects from the Guna people of Panama (formerly known as Kuna) will be exhibited publicly for the first time. In cooperation with Panama's Ministry of Culture and Florida State University, most of the collection has been committed by Thomas Hannaher to Geoversity for repatriation to Panama for an indigenous cultural center and museum now in development. The Santa Fe exhibition will be the first stop on a "farewell tour" of the collection before its permanent relocation to Panama🇵🇦.
