Collections of handpainted retablos of San Pasqual, the kitchen Saint, regional cookbooks, and folk art ornaments have been selected with care to offer delight. Locals as well visitors who frequent the shop also know of the well stocked pantry of food items. The Chile Shop’s house blend of pure chile powder is always in demand for its wonderful flavor and variety of uses. Customers can also expect to find award winning New Mexcio salsas, decadent chocolate treats, hot sauces, regional recipe mixes, and many more food items to tempt everyone from the occasional cook to the “foodie” looking for new items to add to their pantries. One of our favorite new products! This is a fantastic wing sauce that is also delicious as a dipping sauce, for grilling, a salad dressing or on all sandwiches and burgers!

A play on Carolina Gold style sauces. Onion and mustard powder bring out some rich depth, followed by the roast from the serrano and poblano peppers - this sweet and tangy sauce can be used for anything on the grill, salad dressing, to a dipping sauce for finger foods.

So, I came across this recipe that sounds really interesting and I wanted to share it with you:
Red Chile Simple Syrup is the easiest way to spice up your drinks with sweet heat and you can dial the spice to your desired level with different chiles. Consider guajillo or pasilla for a mild fruit flavor, chipotle for a smoky flavor, or ancho or New Mexico chile for an earthy flavor. Each syrup complements drinks differently.
You can use this syrup to killer chile lime soda, spice up an old-fashioned, or bump up your hot chocolate or latte. You can even drizzle it on roasted veggies.
Recipe: In a small saucepan, gently simmer 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and set aside. Remove stems and seeds from 4-5 whole red chiles of your choice. Toast chiles in a pan over medium heat until they are fragrant, about 5 minutes. Cut 1 vanilla bean into 2-3" pieces and combine in blender with chiles and simple syrup (vanilla bean is optional). Strain through a cheesecloth. Store in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Yum!
