OCTOBER FISHING REPORT 🎣

Fall fishing is in full swing here in North Florida! Here’s what’s happening inshore, offshore, and in the surf.

🌊 SURF

Thanks to Hurricane Isaias Thomas, the surf is churning more than before. That being said, the fall redfish should be showing up along with their renowned look-alikes, black drum (Italian drum).

The temperature is dropping, pushing the Spanish mackerel off deeper.

Whiting, per usual in this North Florida paradise, are abundant with a scattering of pompano. Flounder are also being caught either by big fork or pompano rig, but be aware of season closure.

🐟 INSHORE

Flounder are sneaking in under the door and surrendering themselves to local fishermen, but be aware of season closure (you know who you are).

Trout and redfish are getting into their winter groove. The deepest water in our area is, believe it or not (Ripley’s), in our creeks and river system. Think of the Grand Canyon before it was grand.

Our two top inshore species will be running silent and running deep for the winter.

Shrimp and artificial will be the meal of the day.

🚤 OFFSHORE

Those bottom feeders (just like my ex), red grouper, are being snagged! If you can get your bait by the triggerfish swimming around those wrecks, it’s like the only chick at last call.

Those beaked bastards the size of banjos are being boated all along the 60ft mark.

The last schools of tarpon are escaping down the beach. These fish are in transit, so if you do hook one, it would be a miracle. If you do hook one of these tarpon along the beach, call in to 1-800-I’m a liar.

Small snappers, some big Spanish, and a few kings have been caught in 100ft plus, so keep a free fly line out.

And as always, liquidate your kids’ college fund and go fishing with a guide!

🌫️☀️ A LITTLE FOG HERE, A BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE THERE!

Most of Northwest Florida is fog-free this morning, but we're seeing a few exceptions on our Panhandle Weather cameras!

🌫️ MARIANNA: Some dense fog showing up on our Williams Paint & Body Shop camera.

🌤️ CALHOUN COUNTY: Just a little fog in the distance on our Calhoun Liberty Credit Union camera.

🌅 INLET BEACH: A beautiful morning on our Yellowfin Ocean Sports camera!
