This is what working in a coin shop is all about!

We just bought a complete set of Mercury Dimes (1916–1938) over the counter, including the key dates: the 1916-D, 1921, and 1921-D. It’s always exciting to see raw key dates walk in that escape the typical heavily worn AG or G grades. Finding nice original coins like these is always exciting.

Let’s talk about rarity.

Featured here is an 1895-O Morgan Dollar graded PCGS MS61 DMPL.

Though a low mintage of 450,000 makes this a better date in any condition, it is a true condition rarity in Mint State. In fact, fewer than 400 total specimens have been graded mint state across both PCGS and NGC.

When you narrow it down to the prooflike designations, PCGS has recorded just 5 PL examples and a mere 7 in DMPL. That is rarity on a completely different scale.

This is a spectacular cameoed Seated Liberty Dollar. With a population of just 2 coins at this grade and only 2 finer, it is an absolute rarity. It is incredibly hard to find proof Seated Dollars that are predominantly white and have a nice cameo, but this museum-quality piece checks both boxes perfectly.
