We recently posted about our customer Steve Bell, his customer S-Works Crux, and his journey to the UCI Gravel World Championships on October 10th in Nannup, Western Australia 🇦🇺 🦘, here’s an update from Steve!

“What a tough but beautiful course. It was super challenging with a total of 66 miles and 9,850 ft of climbing … and it rained for the first 3 hours of the race just to make it more fun.”

The 60-64 age group had almost 70 riders and 60 finishers with times ranging from 4:43 to 7:45. Steve smashed his goal of a top 25 finish coming in 16th with a time of 5:10, the top USA Cycling finisher in his age group.

“My Crux performed amazingly, it was really like it was not there - I didn’t have to worry about anything, steering was responsive and accurate, gear changes stayed great, brakes excellent, saddle was amazing, pedals worked fantastic and tire choice turned out to be spot on,  Schwalbe RX pro front and rear - 50 and 45 respectively, 19 psi front, 20 rear.  Good cushioning, no rim strikes or bottoming out. Bike climbed like a demon.”

🚴‍♂️🌎 From our service stand to the World Championships.

A few months ago, Steve Bell came to us looking for the ultimate gravel race machine. The result? This stunning custom-built S-Works Crux.

Since then, the bike has already seen success at USA Cycling Gravel Nationals, where Steve rode to an impressive 5th-place finish. Next stop: Australia for the UCI Gravel World Championships on October 10th.

It’s not every day a bike leaves the shop destined for the world stage, and we’re proud to have played a small role in the journey.

Good luck, Steve. We can’t wait to see where this Crux goes next.

A while back we posted a testimonial from one of our long time Customers, Mark. Everyone lover it so much we thought you might want to hear from his wife and life long riding partner, Deb!

Deb’s bike testimonial.

I will be turning 71 this year and it’s my goal to keep on riding.

I grew up riding bikes, skateboarding and roller skating.

I ended up swimming competitively year round from age 12-19.

I got into serious biking about 30 years ago. My husband Mark shared his biking passion with me. I had done a little mountain biking, but he showed me the endless miles of beautiful dirt single track and fire road trails that we are surrounded by.

When we met in 1996 we lived in the East Bay of San Francisco and spent every weekend exploring new trails there and in Marin County, Santa Cruz and Tahoe. We couldn’t get enough. To this day, every trip is about where we will be biking.

We also did some road biking which led us to triathlons.

The Xterra mountain bike triathlons were way more fun and right up our ally.

Fast forward to present day. Mark is 81, and as I said, I’ll be 71. So no more running for us, but biking is still front and center.

We progressed to E mountain bikes which has been so much fun. We still get a workout, but the little bit of extra motor help is much appreciated. We still ride technical single track and hit the hard hill climbs with a vengeance.

Being out in the forest and completing a ride is still a thrill.

I love my Specialized Levo SL Carbon. My knees are bad from so much running and jumping over the years, so if I have to, I just add a bit more power. I’m still sweating and still breathing hard but I can complete the ride and feel fulfilled.

NorCal Bikes are our go to shop even though we are 2 1/2 hours away. Greatest customer service we have ever experienced!

You know why we all love biking? We feel like kids again
