πŸ‘•πŸ”₯ IS YOUR DRYER BELT OR ROLLERS TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING?

Your dryer may still be running, but strange noises or a drum that isn't turning properly can be an early warning that something is wearing out.

Two of the most common culprits? The dryer belt and drum rollers.

πŸ”§ SIGNS YOUR DRYER BELT MAY BE FAILING

The belt wraps around the dryer drum and allows the motor to turn it. Over time, it can stretch, crack, fray, or completely break.

Watch for:

⚠️ Dryer turns on, but the drum doesn't spin
⚠️ Drum turns slowly or struggles with heavier loads
⚠️ Squealing or slapping noises
⚠️ A burning-rubber smell
⚠️ Dryer suddenly stops tumbling

If the belt breaks completely, you may hear the motor running while the drum sits still.

πŸ”Š WHAT ABOUT THE DRUM ROLLERS?

The rollers support the drum as it turns. As they wear out, they can become flat, loose, or damaged.

Common warning signs include:

πŸ”Š Thumping or rumbling while the dryer runs
πŸ”Š Squeaking or grinding noises
πŸ”Š Drum feels rough when turned by hand
πŸ”Š Dryer gets louder as the load gets heavier

Ignoring worn rollers can put additional stress on the belt, motor, idler pulley, and other components.

πŸ› οΈ DON'T JUST GUESS β€” BRING THE MODEL NUMBER!

Dryer belts and rollers are NOT one-size-fits-all. Even dryers that look almost identical can use different parts.

πŸ“Έ Take a clear picture of your dryer's MODEL & SERIAL NUMBER tag and bring it to All Appliance Parts.

We'll help you identify the correct parts for your dryer.

Before you replace the whole dryer because it's making noise, find out if a relatively simple part could get it running smoothly again!

πŸ”Ž WHY IS YOUR MODEL NUMBER SO IMPORTANT?

You walk into All Appliance Parts holding a broken part and say:

β€œI need one of these.”

Sometimes we can recognize itβ€”but when it comes to getting the RIGHT part, your appliance or HVAC model number is one of the most important pieces of information you can bring us.

🏷️ ONE APPLIANCE CAN USE MANY DIFFERENT PARTS

Two refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, or AC units may look exactly the same on the outside but use completely different parts inside.

Manufacturers can change motors, switches, heating elements, control boards, pumps, valves, capacitors, and other components during a product's production run.

That means the part that looks right isn't always the part that IS right.

πŸ”§ THE MODEL NUMBER TAKES OUT THE GUESSWORK

With the correct model number, our experienced parts professionals can look up the manufacturer's parts information and determine what was designed for your specific unit.

That helps:

βœ… Identify the correct replacement part
βœ… Prevent unnecessary returns and wasted trips
βœ… Save you time and frustration
βœ… Avoid ordering the wrong part
βœ… Get your appliance or AC running again faster

πŸ“Έ TAKE A PICTURE BEFORE YOU COME IN!

One of the easiest things you can do is take a clear picture of the model and serial number tag with your phone.

Don't rely on the number printed on the broken part. That number may be a manufacturing, casting, or component number rather than the actual replacement part number.

Your unit's MODEL NUMBER is the key! πŸ”‘

Not sure where to find it? Ask usβ€”we'll help point you in the right direction.

At All Appliance Parts of Sarasota & Bradenton, we're not here to guess. We're here to help you find the RIGHT PART THE FIRST TIME.

09/18/2026

When your air conditioner or furnace isn't moving air properly, the blower motor is often the heart of the problem. Not all HVAC motors are the same, though. The three most common types are PSC, ECM, and Variable-Speed ECM motors. Each has its own advantages, disadvantages, and applications.

Understanding the differences can help homeowners make informed repair and replacement decisions.

PSC Motors (Permanent Split Capacitor)

PSC motors have been used in HVAC systems for decades and are still found in many older systems and budget-friendly equipment.

How They Work

PSC motors run at fixed speeds and rely on a run capacitor to help start and operate efficiently. Most systems have several preset speed taps that the installer selects during installation.

Advantages
Lower replacement cost
Simple design
Easy to diagnose
Reliable and durable
Less expensive to repair
Disadvantages
Higher electrical usage
Louder operation
Fixed speeds only
Less humidity control
More wear from frequent starts and stops

Best For: Older HVAC systems and homeowners looking for a lower-cost replacement.

ECM Motors (Electronically Commutated Motors)

ECM motors use built-in electronics instead of a traditional capacitor to control speed and improve efficiency.

Unlike PSC motors, ECM motors automatically adjust to changing airflow conditions.

Advantages
Uses up to 70% less electricity than many PSC motors
Quieter operation
Better airflow control
Improved comfort
Reduced operating costs
Longer equipment life when properly maintained
Disadvantages
Higher replacement cost
More complex electronics
Sensitive to power surges
Requires specialized testing

Best For: High-efficiency HVAC systems and homeowners looking to reduce energy costs.

Variable-Speed ECM Motors

Variable-speed motors are the most advanced blower motors available in residential HVAC systems.

Instead of running at only one or two speeds, they continuously adjust airflow based on what the system needs.

How They Work

The motor communicates with the control board and automatically changes its RPM to deliver precise airflow.

Advantages
Maximum energy efficiency
Extremely quiet
Outstanding humidity control
More even temperatures throughout the home
Longer, gentler run cycles
Improved indoor air quality
Better compatibility with zoning systems
Lower monthly utility bills
Disadvantages
Highest replacement cost
More advanced diagnostics required
Sensitive to electrical surges
Repairs are typically more expensive

Best For: Premium comfort systems, variable-speed heat pumps, and high-end air conditioners.

Watch for these warning signs:

Weak airflow from vents
Motor humming but not spinning
System frequently overheating
Loud squealing or grinding noises
Fan starts and stops unexpectedly
Higher electric bills
Uneven temperatures throughout the home
System won't start
The Bottom Line

The blower motor is one of the most important components in your HVAC system. While PSC motors are dependable and affordable, ECM and variable-speed motors provide quieter operation, greater comfort, and significant energy savings.

If your blower motor is failing, replacing it with the correct motor can restore your system's performance and efficiency.

09/14/2026

When your oven won't heatβ€”or won't turn on at allβ€”it doesn't always mean it's time for a new appliance. In many cases, one failed component is preventing your oven from working properly.

Here are the most common parts to check first.

1. Bake Element (Electric Ovens)

The bake element provides most of the heat for baking.

Symptoms:

Oven won't heat
Bottom element stays cold
Visible blistering or burn marks
Uneven cooking

A burned-out bake element is one of the most common oven repairs.

2. Broil Element

Even if you're not broiling, many ovens use the broil element to help preheat.

Symptoms:

Slow preheating
Food cooks unevenly
Broil function doesn't work
3. Oven Igniter (Gas Ovens)

The igniter lights the gas burner.

Symptoms:

No heat
Igniter doesn't glow
Weak orange glow but burner never lights
Long preheat times

A weak igniter is the #1 cause of gas ovens that won't heat properly.

4. Temperature Sensor

The oven sensor monitors the internal temperature.

If it fails, you may notice:

Oven won't heat correctly
Temperature is too hot or too cold
Error codes on the display
5. Thermal Fuse

Some ovens include a thermal fuse that opens if the appliance overheats.

Symptoms:

Oven completely dead
Display won't power on
No heating functions
6. Electronic Control Board

The control board sends power to the heating components.

When it fails:

Oven won't start
Random error codes
Heating stops unexpectedly
Buttons stop responding
7. Oven Control Thermostat (Older Models)

Older ovens use a mechanical thermostat.

Symptoms include:

Oven won't reach temperature
Temperature swings
No heat at all
8. Door Switch

Many ovens require the door switch to operate certain functions safely.

A failed switch may cause:

Interior light issues
Self-clean problems
Heating interruptions on some models
9. Power Supply

Sometimes the problem isn't inside the oven.

For electric ovens:

Check the circuit breaker.
Verify the appliance has the required 240-volt power.

A tripped breaker may allow lights and the display to work while preventing the heating elements from operating.

10. Wiring Connections

Loose or burned wiring can interrupt power to the heating system.

Look for:

Burned terminals
Melted connectors
Loose wires near the heating element

Always disconnect power before inspecting wiring.

Quick Troubleshooting Guide

βœ… Oven won't heat: Bake element, igniter, temperature sensor, or control board.

βœ… Oven completely dead: Thermal fuse, breaker, power supply, or control board.

βœ… Slow preheating: Weak igniter, failing bake element, or broil element.

βœ… Incorrect temperatures: Temperature sensor or thermostat.

βœ… Display works but no heat: Heating element, igniter, relay, or electronic control board.

Prevent Oven Problems

Keep your oven working its best by:

Cleaning spills promptly (avoid coating heating elements).
Inspecting door seals for damage.
Avoiding slamming the oven door.
Keeping vents clear.
Addressing unusual smells or error codes early.

09/11/2026

When your air conditioner suddenly stops cooling on a hot Florida afternoon, one of the first parts technicians check is the capacitor. It's a small, inexpensive component, but it's absolutely critical to getting your HVAC system running.

Think of a capacitor like a rechargeable energy reservoir. It stores electricity and releases it when the system needs an extra burst of power.

There are two main jobs a capacitor performs:

1. Start the Motor

The compressor and fan motor need extra torque to begin spinning.
The capacitor provides that quick burst of electricity to get them moving.

2. Keep the Motor Running

Many air conditioners use a run capacitor, which helps the compressor and condenser fan motor operate efficiently while they're running.
Without it, motors run hotter, draw more electricity, and may eventually fail.
Types of HVAC Capacitors

Dual Run Capacitor

The most common type found in residential systems.
Operates both the compressor and the condenser fan motor.
Usually labeled with values like 45/5 Β΅F.

Single Run Capacitor

Powers just one motor.
Often used on blower motors or specialty equipment.

Start Capacitor

Provides a larger burst of energy only during startup.
Disconnects once the motor reaches operating speed.
Why Do Capacitors Fail?

Capacitors are considered a wear item. Most last 5–15 years, but several factors can shorten their lifespan.

1. Extreme Heat

Heat is the number one enemy of capacitors.

Outdoor condenser units in sunny climates like Florida often operate in temperatures well above 100Β°F. Over time, that heat breaks down the dielectric material inside the capacitor.

2. Power Surges

Lightning strikes, utility fluctuations, and electrical surges can damage the internal components, causing the capacitor to weaken or fail suddenly.

3. Age

Every time your air conditioner starts, the capacitor goes through another charge-and-discharge cycle. After thousands of cycles, its electrical value slowly drifts out of specification.

4. Constant Cycling

If your system turns on and off frequently because of thermostat issues, incorrect sizing, or airflow problems, the capacitor experiences many more start cycles than normal, reducing its life.

5. Poor Quality Components

Not all capacitors are built the same.

Higher-quality capacitors often use better materials and tighter manufacturing tolerances, making them more resistant to heat and vibration. Cheaper versions may fail much sooner.

Signs of a Bad Capacitor

Watch for these common symptoms:

Air conditioner won't start
Outdoor fan isn't spinning
System hums but doesn't run
Warm air coming from vents
AC starts intermittently
Breaker trips when the unit starts
Longer cooling cycles
Higher electric bills

Sometimes the capacitor will even appear swollen or leaking oil.

Can You Test a Capacitor?

Yes. HVAC technicians use a multimeter with a capacitance setting to measure the microfarad (Β΅F) rating.

A capacitor should typically test within Β±6% of its rated value. If it falls outside that range, it should be replaced.

Can You Replace It Yourself?

While replacing a capacitor may look simple, it can be dangerous.

Even after power is disconnected, a capacitor can hold a potentially hazardous electrical charge. Always turn off power at the disconnect and breaker, and ensure the capacitor has been safely discharged before handling it. If you're unsure, it's safest to have a qualified HVAC technician replace it.

How to Make Capacitors Last Longer
Replace dirty air filters regularly.
Keep the outdoor condenser coil clean.
Trim vegetation around the condenser for good airflow.
Consider surge protection for your HVAC system.
Have your system inspected annually.
The Bottom Line

A capacitor may be one of the least expensive parts in your HVAC system, but it's one of the most important. It gives the compressor and fan motors the energy they need to start and run efficiently. Heat, age, power surges, and poor-quality components are the main reasons capacitors fail.

If your air conditioner suddenly stops working, don't assume the worstβ€”it could simply be a failed capacitor.

Need an HVAC capacitor today? Bring your unit's model number or the old capacitor to All Appliance Parts of Sarasota & Bradenton. Our knowledgeable team can help you find the correct replacement and answer your installation questions.

09/04/2026

Your HVAC contactor is one of the hardest-working electrical components in your air conditioning system. Every time your thermostat calls for cooling, the contactor closes, allowing high-voltage power to flow to the compressor and condenser fan motor. Over time, those electrical contacts wear downβ€”and when they become pitted, problems begin.

What Causes Pitted Contacts?

Each time the contactor opens and closes, a small electrical arc occurs between the metal contact points. After thousands of cycles, this arcing burns and pits the surface of the contacts. Heat, heavy electrical loads, and age speed up the process.

Symptoms of a Pitted Contactor

A contactor with worn or pitted contacts may cause:

Intermittent cooling
Compressor or fan failing to start
Buzzing or chattering noises
Voltage drop to the compressor
Overheating of electrical components
Higher energy consumption

Because the contacts no longer make a clean electrical connection, resistance increases. That extra resistance creates heat, which can damage the contactor, wiring, compressor, or condenser fan motor.

Why You Shouldn't Ignore It

Many homeowners replace expensive components like capacitors or even compressors without checking the contactor first. A relatively inexpensive contactor with severely pitted contacts can cause symptoms that mimic much larger failures.

Routine inspections during annual HVAC maintenance can catch worn contacts before they leave you without air conditioning on the hottest day of the year.

The Bottom Line

A pitted contactor may seem like a minor issue, but it can shorten the life of your HVAC system and lead to costly repairs. If your system is showing signs of electrical problems or intermittent operation, have the contactor inspected by a qualified technician.

Need a replacement HVAC contactor? Visit All Appliance Parts of Sarasota & Bradenton. We stock quality HVAC electrical components and can help you find the correct contactor for your system using your model number. Don't wait for a small electrical problem to become a major repair.

08/31/2026

A dryer that tumbles but doesn't produce heat is one of the most common appliance problems homeowners face. Before assuming you need a new dryer, several inexpensive parts are worth checking first.

1. Heating Element (Electric Dryers)

The heating element produces the heat needed to dry your clothes.

Symptoms:

Dryer tumbles normally
No heat
Clothes stay damp after a full cycle

A burned-out heating element is one of the most common causes of a no-heat dryer.

2. Thermal Fuse

The thermal fuse is a safety device that blows if the dryer overheats.

Symptoms:

Dryer won't heat
Some models won't start at all

If the fuse has blown, be sure to find the reason it overheatedβ€”often a clogged vent.

3. High-Limit Thermostat

This thermostat protects the dryer from excessive temperatures.

If it fails, the heating circuit may shut down, leaving you with little or no heat.

4. Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the dryer's temperature.

A faulty thermostat can cause:

No heat
Overheating
Clothes taking too long to dry
5. Gas Dryer Igniter

On gas dryers, the igniter glows to light the burner.

Symptoms:

Dryer tumbles
No heat
No visible glow from the igniter
6. Gas Valve Coils

Gas valve coils open the gas valve once the igniter is hot.

When they fail:

The dryer may heat briefly, then stop heating.
It may work again after cooling down.
7. Flame Sensor (Gas Dryers)

The flame sensor verifies ignition before allowing the gas valve to open.

A failed sensor prevents the burner from lighting.

8. Timer or Electronic Control Board

If all heating components test good, the timer or control board may not be sending power to the heating circuit.

9. Dryer Vent

Sometimes nothing inside the dryer is broken.

A clogged dryer vent can:

Restrict airflow
Cause overheating
Blow the thermal fuse
Greatly increase drying time
Become a fire hazard

Clean your lint filter after every load and have the vent cleaned at least once a year.

10. Power Supply (Electric Dryers)

Electric dryers require 240 volts.

If one breaker trips, the dryer may still tumble on 120 volts but won't heat.

Always check both breakers before replacing parts.

Quick Troubleshooting Guide

βœ… Dryer tumbles but no heat: Heating element, thermal fuse, thermostat, igniter, or gas valve coils.

βœ… Dryer won't start: Thermal fuse, door switch, or start switch.

βœ… Dryer heats once then stops: Gas valve coils or restricted vent.

βœ… Dryer takes forever to dry: Clogged vent, dirty lint screen, weak heating element, or cycling thermostat.

Prevent Costly Repairs

Keep your dryer running efficiently by:

Cleaning the lint filter after every load
Cleaning the dryer vent annually
Avoiding overloaded loads
Checking for crushed or kinked vent hoses
Replacing worn drum seals when needed
