My Mom was my biggest cheerleader when I decided to spread my creative wings and open The Modern Sewist. As it turned out, she was also one of my best customers throughout the years. She loved taking classes, attending workshops, and the varied events that were held at the shop.

And she made a lot of friends along the way. I am so grateful for so many of you reaching out to me during this difficult time. It has meant so much - I thank you.

My family will be holding a Celebration of Life for my mom on August 8th at 2 pm.

We welcome Claudia's family and friends to attend as we share stories, photos, and other messages on that day.

Yesterday landed heavy.

I lost my mom — our beloved Mimi.

No number of photos could represent 84 years of a life lived well. There are too many for social media and never enough for my liking.

Mom was my champion in all things creative. I came by my passion genetically — that much is certain. She was a fixture at my shop, adored by customers who called her a friend long after they stopped being strangers.

She loved her family fiercely. The years of our daily group text with my sister is proof positive. Every morning without fail she began with the same words: “I am grateful for another day and my family.”

She meant it every single time.

I cannot begin to imagine life without her. The memories are joyful and plentiful, and for that I am deeply grateful.

Rest easy, Mimi. You are so very loved. 💙

Had a wonderful day with - got to flex my chef 👩‍🍳 muscles AND continue on my creative quest 🎨. Alongside some distractions, I managed to pull some decent gelli prints I will be using as a sample for an upcoming class.

Thank you, Mel, for sharing your tips, tools, and techniques with me. I can’t wait to get together again - I promise to be a bit more organized 🤭
