Let’s look through the Book Basket and see what reads The Bare Family recommends this week! Several folks (especially Austin and TJ) say the “Captain Underpants” series by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey are great reads!

This adventurous series follows the adventures of two fourth-grade friends who accidentally hypnotize their school principal into believing he is the superhero, Captain Underpants! They certainly experience many fun escapades as they navigate school life and use their comic book character, Captain Underpants, to fight villains, often resulting in humorous and haphazard situations.

This week at the Book Basket we found some special recommendations from Joely! She says “The Babysitters Club” series by Ann M. Martin are her favorites!

The novels are set in Stoneybrook, Connecticut following the founding Babysitters Club members and best friends: Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, and Stacey. Whatever comes up -- cranky toddlers, huge dogs, scary neighbors, prank calls, fashion emergencies, and mysterious secrets -- No matter what, the Club is held together by friendship 🩷

This week at the Book Basket we found some special recommendations from Papa Bare! He says any story with a heroic dog is well worth reading, but his all time favorite tail is “The Call of the Wild” by Jack London 🐕

This historic fiction follows the adventures of Buck, a powerful half St. Bernard and half sheepdog, who lives on an estate in California. The discovery of gold in the Klondike region of Alaska has led to a great demand for strong dogs to pull sleds. Buck is kidnapped and sold to harsh dog traders who ship him north to the Klondike. And that’s where the story really begins!
