ATTN Michigan UP (Chippewa County) -- RECENT (May 19, 2026). Class B encounter at dusk near Whitefish Point Lighthouse.
These ladies saw a large dark silhouette standing behind this log pile on the beach west of the observation deck for the lighthouse. There didn't seem to be anyone else on the beach at that time. The figure was moving behind the log pile and was climbing over it in their direction until the primary witness, Diane Ward, shined her flashlight toward it, at which point the figure quickly ducked down behind the log pile. The dog began frantically pulling Diane away from there back toward the observation deck. As the ladies moved away they saw the figure pop its head up to look toward them a few times. They thought it may have been a bigfoot because it was a large dark figure and was behaving in a way that seemed strange for a human.
That same day there was a major search and rescue operation happening in the woods a few miles to the south. The operation involved over 35 police and dog teams and a helicopter. If a sasquatch had been in the woods that day it might have gotten skittish from all that human activity in an area where there is usually nobody around.
