We are ready to celebrate October and Halloween with the return of FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS! Every Friday Night in October, we invite you to turn the lights down low and enjoy classic/nostalgic horror radio programs from yesteryear. Then on the night of the 30th get ready to experience the Annual Haunted Halloween Broadcast with the UPPER PENINSULA PARANORMAL RESEARCH SOCIETY! Friday Night Frights is presented by Michigan Paranormal Convention's Ghostly Great Lakes Weekend and Sault Ste. Marie Haunts & History Tour. It's also brought to you in part by Haunted Depot Halloween Shop and Madam Michelle's Metaphysical Emporium!

West of downtown Sault Ste Marie near the Lake Superior State Campus is an old stone and brick water tower. The 45-foot diameter tower was constructed in 1894 and the steel tank inside holds 364,000 gallons of water. It is one of the oldest water towers in Michigan and it was refurbished in 2010. That is when its wooden roof was replaced with a steel one. Copyright Lost In Michigan.

This picture from the 1890s shows the Charles Supe Building, at the corner of West Portage Avenue and Ferris Street. When this was taken, the building housed the American Steel Barge Company, the Otto Supe Grocery and Jeweler, and Hursley Tug Line. Notice the unpaved streets, wooden sidewalks and carbon arc streetlamps. Also, the two ladies are dressed smartly in woolen suits and fedoras. Along Ferris Street side of the building are several kegs, a crate, and a wagon.

Over the years, this building has housed too many different businesses to list here. The building looks quite different today. It houses Sugar Daddy Bakery. Gone is the ornate cornice, and the upper windows no longer sport the curved brick arches. Gordon Daun Collection Post by Collette Coullard
