🍁Canadian shoppers, a quick tariff clarification...
This post is not meant to be political. We just want to share some practical information because we know many of our Canadian customers have questions about the new tariffs.
Buying something in the U.S. does not automatically mean you’ll be charged the new Canadian tariff.
The new tariffs apply only to specific products on Canada’s tariff list, and only if those products are made in the U.S.A.
So, for example:
• A product containing plastic is not automatically tariffed just because it has plastic in it.
• A product containing steel or aluminum is not automatically tariffed just because it contains metal.
• Electronics are not automatically tariffed as one big category.
• Many everyday household goods, toys, kitchen items, clothing, decor and other products we sell are not on the new tariff list at all.
• Many of our products are manufactured outside the U.S., which means they are not subject to these U.S.-origin retaliatory tariffs.
In other words, the new tariffs are much more specific than “everything bought in America gets taxed.”
We know a lot of our Canadian customers have been concerned, so we wanted to clear that up.
As always, CBSA makes the final determination at the border based on the individual item and its country of origin.
