Venetian Ducat of the Republican Period. This was issued during the reign of Doge Antonio Venier, which was from 1380-1400.

Offered here is a rather scarce $5 Indian. The 1916-S actually becomes rare in any condition nicer than this. This example is lustrous, fully struck, and lacks the improper cleaning many of this date have as they tend to come from stashed in Europe. The European look on US gold coins is original although it is less desirable. This coins is available for sale at $3,200 delivered in the US.

Talk about a hoarder!! This guy was! Lavere Redfield was probably the most famous coin accumulator of all time. Some might say he was the original silver stacker!! Born to William and Sarah Redfield, he was born into poverty in October, 1897 in Ogden Utah. He grew up there, moving to Idaho shortly after World War I. Ten years later, around the start of the depression, he moved to Los Angeles, and used his life savings to invent in stocks. He was successful and by the 19030s he had made a fortune and decided to relocate to Reno, Nevada. There, he purchased a large stone house, and began to stack silver dollars. He distrusted both banks and the U.S. government, and acquired the reputation of an eccentric. And pretended to be poor.
Rumors soon spread that he was not really the poor transient that he appeared to be, but a shrewd investor. Throughout the 1940s and 50s, he continued to purchase bags of silver dollars and stack them in the basement of his house. By 1960, his hassles with the IRS boiled over. Convicted of tax evasion, he served 18 months of a five-year sentence in federal prison. Upon his release, he returned to Reno, and continued to stack silver.
Upon his death in 1974 at age 77, some 400 bags of dollars (approximately 400,000 pieces) were discovered behind a false wall in his basement. Roughly 85% of them were uncirculated, and in late January 1976, the entire lot was auctioned. The winning bid of $7.3 million dollars was received for the stack.

In February 1867, the New York State Senate passed a bill that allowed the construction of a suspension bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan. Two months later, the New York and Brooklyn Bridge Company was incorporated. The company was tasked with constructing what was then known as the New York and Brooklyn Bridge.
The Brooklyn Bridge started construction in 1869 and was completed fourteen years later in 1883. It was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and the East River Bridge, but it was later dubbed the Brooklyn Bridge and formally so named by the city government in 1915. Over the years, the Brooklyn Bridge has undergone several reconfigurations; it formerly carried horse-drawn vehicles and elevated railway lines, but now carries vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. Commercial vehicles are banned from the bridge.
Since opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an icon of New York City, ranking among the city's most popular tourist attractions. This medal is from the opening of the bridge in 1883. Contact directly for price.

To mark the important anniversary of the 150th year after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the National Sesquicentennial Exhibition Association envisioned the release an entire series of commemorative coins. This plan was eventually scaled back to just two coins however, a half dollar, and a $2.5 quarter eagle gold piece. The bill passed by Congress on March 3rd, 1925, authorized the striking of up to on million half dollars and 200,000 gold quarter eagles.
The obverse of the half dollar features overlapping right-facing busts of George Washington, the nation's first president, and Calvin Coolidge, the White House's occupant at the time of the sesquicentennial. This design caused an uproar at the time as most people did not want living individuals depicted on U.S. coins. These portraits are surrounded by a multitude of coinage mottos. LIBERTY is above, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is below, and IN GOD WE TRUST is in tiny letters to the right. The coin's reverse features a straightforward view of the Liberty Bell, with the dual dates 1776 and 1926 to the left and right, respectively. Above the bell is the motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. Circling the rim, within an interior border, are the inscriptions SESQUICENTENNIAL OF AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE and HALF DOLLAR. Later the reverse is used in modified form for the Franklin half dollar.

For a reason lost to history, the designs are in extremely low relief, leading to one of the most poorly struck coins that the U.S. Mint has ever created. This low relief is rather unattractive, and undoubtedly hurt sales. Out of the 1,000,000 coins minted in May and June of 1926, only 140,592 were sold at the Sesquicentennial Exposition in Philadelphia held from June through November of that year. The remaining 859,408 coins were returned to the Mint to be melted.

Offered here is a fantastically toned silver drachm from the Ancient Greek city of Caria, Rhodes. Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands of Greece in terms of land area and also the island group's historical capital. The island of Rhodes is situated off of the coast of Anatolia, and Caria is an island in the region known as Rhodian Peraea, off the coast of Rhodes. The island of Rhodes itself was said to be born of the union of Helios the sun god and the nymph Rhodos, and the cities were named for their three sons. The rhoda is a pink hibiscus native to the island. This coin is adorned with Helios and the pink hibisucs. Helios is the god and personification of the Sun in Greek mythology. He is the son of the Titan Hyperion and the Titaness Theia, and brother of the goddesses Selene, the moon, and Eos, the dawn. He was described as a handsome young man crowned with the shining aureole of the Sun, who drove the chariot of the sun across the sky each day to earth-circling Oceanus and through the world-ocean returned to the East at night. The equivalent of Helios in Roman mythology was Sol. The Colossus of Rhodes was also a representation of the god Helios or Sol Invictus. The Statue of Liberty was modeled after her. 🇬🇷

Andrew Jackson (March 15, 1767 – June 8, 1845) was an American soldier and statesman who served as the seventh President of the United States from 1829 to 1837. Before being elected to the presidency, Jackson gained fame as a general in the United States Army and served in both houses of Congress. As president, Jackson sought to advance the rights of the "common man" against a "corrupt aristocracy" and to preserve the Union. He was the first president to survive an assassination attempt.
