Why are dahlias so expensive you may wonder? One of the many reasons is pest protection! We use a variety of methods for keeping dahlia loving critters off the blooms, including covering some beds with a netted tunnel and bagging individual buds of the most sought after colors. All of these procedures make harvesting more challenging and time consuming. And sometimes the wind just takes it all down! The plants always reward us with astonishing beauty in the end.

A typical Tuesday. Of fog lifting harvests, wrapping up season long projects (YEAH Meg + Gradeigh), big ole Maine Flower Collective order out the door, trying to coax Billy Cat towards us, lunch naps, CSA slinging, and miscellaneous whale spouts forming. Oh late summer, oh typical Tuesday, you are full, you are chaotic, you are good.
