Dave Longaberger, a son, husband and father, opened J.W.'s Handwoven Baskets in 1976 in Dresden, Ohio. J.W.

was Dave's father who had worked for the Dresden Basket Factory starting in 1919 and had honed an exceptional craft. Dave discovered that home shows were the most effective way to sell the company's baskets in the late 1970s. This allowed the craftsmanship to be personally explained as well as the history be told of the humble beginnings of the Longaberger family. At that point The Longaberger Com
