The creativity of Heather is amazing. Lots of great things ahead for this new business in Scenery Hill opening August 29th. AND, look for our honey there too! Yay!

Nothing cozier than a cup of hot tea in a handmade mug and a little macramé. 🫖🧶

And yes… I’m drinking hot tea even on a hot day. 😂 When it’s this hot outside, I’m staying inside where it’s cool and getting crafty!

We are realizing that we need to get back to growing our own lettuce and thinking we should just do it year round. It is pretty easy and grows quickly. Buttercrunch is our favorite.

As soon as the rain lets up a bit, the stinkers are back. We still have quite a few even though some have left.

It is raining or should I say pouring again here. We have had to let water out of the pool a few times. The other day we got 2 & 1/4 inches.
But there are some folks on here that are in a severe drought and we certainly understand how dreadful it can be. It could be us again next year.
Then there are folks on here dealing with the worry of the massive fires we are witnessing on the news in the U.S., Canada, France and Spain. Just unthinkable suffering.
I try to stay focused on gardening as much as I can. Weather issues abound and it is so disturbing. My refuge, my sanctuary, my escape lies in the garden even though given all of the rain, the weeds are beyond my control.
Blessings to all, hope you are doing well or well enough to make it through these very tough times that just keep coming.

See the sycamore tree that popped up behind the phlox? Talk about a native tree - it dates back 100 million years. And boy does it grow, grow, grow. Of course we will have to move it because look at the size of the one I left in a flower bed 9 years ago. It is no longer a flower bed, LOL!

Creamed or I should say it correctly "spun" honey is in the making. Cinnamon, lemon and chai are the ones I am attempting. Takes a few weeks. We shall see if this was a good idea or a bad one. Thank you for your help! Cinnamon was a slam dunk, so many suggested it.

Zucchini season is upon us. Yay! John just went down to pick our first few. It is a must for me to freeze the regular and chocolate zucchini breads. Plus fried zucchini and mock zucchini crabcakes (no exact recipe - just bread crumbs, horseradish, dijon, an egg or two, worcestershire, and Old Bay seasoning).
Are you enjoying your gardens? Doesn't every vegetable taste better, especially heirloom tomatoes, than anything you could ever buy?

Sometimes after prepping basil and making pesto all afternoon, something light is needed. Green/red pepper boats topped with egg salad made with finely chopped homemade dill pickles along with freshly picked tomatoes and cucumbers on the side just hits the spot! Of course John's Pinot Grigio is the icing on the cake. We are loving our garden produce, nothing better!
