OK, seriously...what's up with the squishy obsession?

We have the big butter squishies.
We have gel filled farm animals.
We have donut squishies.
We have fuzzy highland cow squishies.
We have slime filled pumpkin squishies.

And people are grabbing them as fast as we are getting them in. When ordering the first case, I felt as though I was a little out of my lane, but since we picked out squishies with the farm and food theme, I could justify it. But to be honest, I'm just a little taken aback at just how popular they are. Kids are giddy...including my own 13 year old.

If you want to put a smile on a child (or teenager) in your life, stop in and check out the collection we have! We just got more in.

Tonight is a great night to sit outside and take in the sights, sounds and tastes of Washington County.

Our Friday on 40 Market Festival is tonight from 5-8pm. Bring your friends and relax country style with good food, live music, cold drinks and your neighbors. And we will have some of our neighbors on hand selling their creations as market vendors.

Plus tonight, we welcome a car cruise! Bring your old car and get a free bar of Cabot cheese!

Twice the fun this Friday, August 7:
We are hosting a Car Cruise at the same time as our Friday on 40 Market Festival Series 5-8pm

In addition to live music by Alex Riddell, cocktails poured by The Pour Wagon, LLC, meals served out of our kitchen and a handful of local vendors selling their wares - we will also welcome vintage cars and trucks.

The car cruise will take place in the upper parking lot and anyone bringing a vehicle older than 1990 will receive a free block of Cabot cheese! Take your classic car for a cruise to Tiashoke this Friday!

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of hosting 30 teachers for Farm-to-Classroom training led by .

The teachers enjoyed Cabot Creamery Cooperative Greek yogurt parfaits and cider donuts, of course, for breakfast. Then went and toured our dairy farm and Borden's Orchard. When they returned to the store, we fed them lunch and their afternoon session included a cooking lesson on making mac and cheese in the classroom and practical strategies for food-based learning. What a great group of creative and enthusiastic teachers! Can't wait to see how they take what they learned and share it with their students!

The bonus was Phoebe serving as a mac and cheese judge for their creations! A couple of my favorite enteries, all using Cabot cheese, were:
- a Buffalo mac and cheese with spicy Buffalo wing cheddar, coupled with a little barbecue sauce for some sweetness.
- a chip dip mac and cheese using Smokey Bacon cheddar and Horseradish cheddar, topped with potato chips for a crunch
- the winning entry was an "everything but the kitchen sink" mac and cheese featuring Cabot's Everything Bagel cheddar.

A fun day of professional development.

Our space is available for meetings and trainings midweek. We can cater lunch. We have a large screen TV for easy presentations. And we have tables ans chairs for 50 people. Let us know if you are in need for meeting space.

Practice what you preach.

This weekend, I suggested people slow it down and have a Little House weekend. While there isn't much slowing down on the farm, we did find time to process sweet corn with our neighbors.

We picked up 10 bags of fresh, local sweet corn, husked it, blanched it, cut it and bagged it up, resulting in a pile of corn for the freezer. Then we relaxed and watched more Little House that night.

Do you all freeze corn or veggies? It feels good to have not only beef and pork in our freezer, but now sweet corn to enjoy all winter too!

It is the thrill of the hunt!

You never know just what you will find when you go antiquing. Even if you are on the search for something specific, you are always bound to be surprised or inspired by something that speaks to your soul and puts a smile on your face. And that's one of the reasons it is so fun. Even more fun to share the experience with friends or in this case, your daughters!

Thanks Lois Goblet for bringing the girls out for a little picking! I cant wait to see how you use those mini barn vents on your next project!

Have yourself a Little House Sunday.

1. Start at Tiashoke and pick up some of our new maple bacon donuts (or cider donuts).

2. Pick up the fixings for dinner...maybe a nice pork roast or stew beef...as if we were the Oleson Mercantile.

3. Browse the antiques and find something that Half Pint or Mary would have had, that tells a story, from a time past.

4. Go home and enjoy your donuts while binge watching the new Little House series.

5. Prepare dinner like Ma would have made.

6. Say your prayers and give thanks.

7. Enjoy a home-cooked meal after a relaxing day and feel good about supporting your local community.

Life can be that simple again.
We just have to choose it.

Holy cow - it's August already!

Not sure how the summer flew by so quickly, but here we are and we have some great things planned for you! Like our new donut that is a true taste of Washington County: a cider donut topped with Battlehill Maple cream and Tiashoke bacon crumbles! Those will be hot out of the fryer at 9:30 this morning!

Our Friday on 40 this month will feature a car cruise...so bring out your old ride for the evening! Alex Riddell will be playing his guitar and The Pour Wagon, LLC will be back behind the bar. Worship Night features our friends at The Church at Newtown Road.

Then it is our county fair, which means we close the store and move into the fair with cows and kids in tow! You can find us in the Youth Dairy Barn or at The Big Push. It is a week of memories for our farm family. When we get back will will start picking pumpkins!!! It will be here before we know it!
