what is easy about this shrub you might ask?
This dwarf cherry bush...
1. doesn't get too large, shorter than 5'
2. is self fertile
3. is very showy in spring
4. the fruits are tasty cooked or raw, a good tasting tart cherry

Flower Spotlight:

Vernonia noveboracensis - New York Ironweed

This tall, coarse, and upright plant with stiff stems produce many leaves. The plant stands about 4-6 feet off the ground where it forms a cluster of flowers that bloom late summer into fall. This plant is great for bordering backyard garden areas and wildflower gardens.

Why we love this plant...
It has stunning color! it may be tall, but the contrast of color carves a place for ironweed. Height can add dimension that you didn't realize your are missing.
