🐾 CHARACTER EDUCATION IS BACK! 🐾
This year, we’re helping our Polar Bears grow not only as students, but as kind, responsible, respectful leaders. ❤️🤍💙
Each month, students will focus on an important character trait and learn what it looks like in the classroom, on the playground, and throughout our school community.
🐻❄️ SEPTEMBER: POLAR BEAR PRIDE
Trait: Respect & Responsibility
We’re kicking off the year by celebrating what it means to be a Polar Bear!
Our September message is:
“Proud to Be a Polar Bear: We Respect, We Care, We Lead.”
Being proud to be a Polar Bear means taking care of our school, our friends, ourselves, and our community—and showing respect through our words and actions.
🏠 KEEP THE CONVERSATION GOING AT HOME!
Try asking:
💬 What does it mean to show respect?
💬 How can you show respect when you disagree with someone?
💬 What are some responsibilities you have at home? At school?
💬 What could you do if you see someone who needs help?
💬 What does being a good leader look like?
💬 How can we take pride in our family, school, and community?
📚 READ TOGETHER
Picture books are a wonderful way to explore character traits. Consider reading:
• The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson
• Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson
• The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld
• What If Everybody Did That? by Ellen Javernick
• Those Shoes by Maribeth Boelts
After reading, ask: “Where did you see respect or responsibility in this story?”
When school and home work together, our children see that character isn’t just something we talk about—it’s something we practice every day.
🐾 Proud to Be a Polar Bear: We Respect, We Care, We Lead. ❤️🤍💙
