Sound films have a magnetic strip that follows the entire length of the film, while non-sound regular 8mm film and Super 8 film will not have a magnetic strip. These photos above can be used to determine what type of films you have.

Even though many of the "Merry Melodies" cartoons are considered timeless and can still be fun to watch, occasionally there will be references to obsolete technology and vintage media that the next generations of young people probably wouldn't recognize when watching in real-time.

In this clip from a Porky Pig cartoon, we have Charlie Dog trying to become Porky's pet dog, using any means necessary to do it. If you notice during the clip, however, Charlie Dog uses an old landline rotary phone to talk to the neighbor, then is later sitting on a couch viewing 3D stereo slides.

If you don't recognize what 3D stereo slides are, 3D stereo slides are a vintage photographic format that consists of two side-by-side images mounted on a single rectangular card, and when looked through a specialized viewer, would create a three-dimensional (3D) image you could look at. During the 1940s and 1950s, it had become a fun and popular way to view regular family photos.

If you have 3D Stereo slides that you would like to have preserved and digitized, AZDT can help! You don't have to have both images scanned to preserve the image since it still requires either specialized glasses or AI technology to re-create the 3D image.

If you grew up in the 90's and loved NBA basketball, every Saturday morning after cartoons, you were watching "Inside Stuff", especially the "Jam Session" at the end of the program.

During the golden era of basketball when stars like Patrick Ewing, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaq, Barkley, Isaiah Thomas, and more were playing in the NBA, "Inside Stuff" made for must-watch TV on NBC. It was hosted by Ahmad Rashad and Willow Bay, and gave us a unique look inside NBA stars' lives beyond the NBA, as well as highlights of games during the season, always ending with "Jam Session", a highlight reel of the best plays and dunks of the week.

The "Fast" 1987 Plymouth C**t GT Turbo

The Dodge/Plymouth C**t GT (also known as the Mitsubishi C**t), was a 3-door economical car that was sold through seven generations between the years 1971 and 1995. The 1987 Plymouth C**t GT was the fifth generation model that came with a better-looking front end from the previous year's model, and was powered by a 105hp, 16-valve, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. In January 1988, Chrysler Canada began sourcing C**ts from Thailand, assembled there from Japanese parts.

I would imagine if you added a bigger turbo, an intercooler, and some boost, you probably could have had a potent little sleeper. What do you think?

Another retro 80's car commercial for a local Arizona car dealer named Smith Nissan in 1987. The loud booming voice, the huge flashing price tag, and only $4950 for a brand new Nissan Hardbody truck? You know this is all 80's vibe. Is it even possible to buy a good running used car for that price today?

1986 Burger King "Where's Herb?" Promotion

"Where's Herb?" was an advertising campaign for Burger King that featured a fictional character named "Herb the Nerd." The TV advertisements called on fans to visit their local Burger King in the hope of finding Herb for a chance at winning a million dollars. During the promotion, customers could say "I'm not Herb" when ordering food at a Burger King, and could buy a Whopper at a discounted rate. Do you think a promotion like this would work better in today's modern world?

The promotion was created to counter McDonald's McDLT "Where's the Beef" promotion, but proved to be confusing to many people who didn't know what Herb looked like. The promotion was a financial disaster for Burger King, who lost 40% of their profits that year.

A rare view from inside the South Tower at the World Trade Center in 1978!

This is footage from a Super 8 film of a vacation to New York City in 1978. The South Tower Observation Deck was composed of an indoor observatory on the 107th floor of the South Tower and an outdoor viewing platform atop the tower’s roof.  On any clear day, one could see up to 50 miles away! At 1,377 feet above street level, the outdoor viewing platform was the highest in the world when it opened in December 1975. Do you know of anyone who visited the South Tower and was able to experience the observatory?

On September 11, 2001 at 9:03 a.m., the South Tower was struck by United Airlines Flight 175. The building burned for 56 minutes before collapsing at 9:59 a.m..

After a geology expedition in the Amazon rainforest uncovers fossilized evidence of a direct link between land and sea animals, a group of scientists return to the Amazon to look for the remainder of the skeleton, but end up discovering of a deep hidden lagoon, where a mysterious amphibious beast named "Gill-man" lives.
