Good Morning Vaulters!!! Happy Thirsty Thursday, hold on a little bit linger we're almost at the promised land AKA the relaxing weekend!
Although he seems larger than life and an ungodly compendium of gaming knowledge, our fearless leader is a mere mortal...despite what we'd like to believe. Unfortunately, he's currently under the weather with the rarified video game virus (JK adding levity to cheer our leader up as he's nursed to health in his bed). As a result, any trades today or tomorrow can only be done for store credit by the associate(s) covering his shifts. He'll return Saturday hopefully well rested and germ free. Unless previously discussed/arranged/scheduled, please call in advance for any cash based trades for your personal convenience amd to coordinate accurate accommodation. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Now, let's get onto the show!
Instead of focusing on discontinued digestible products this week we're shaking it up with remembering these nostalgic things that faded into our childhood.
1. Pogs
Becoming huge in Hawaii in the early '90s until they surged in popularity on the mainland. (The name comes from Passion Orange Guava juice.)" These colorful cardboard circles sparked full-blown playground economies. You'd stack them, slam them, and collect shiny or rare ones just to show off.
Pogs were a wildly popular playground game until schools began banning them in the mid-1990s, due to frequent arguments and other disruptions during recess.
2. Moon Shoes
Marketed as "mini trampolines for your feet," Moon Shoes let you bounce around like low-gravity boots.
They were awkward, kind of dangerous, and squeaked with every step—but damn, they were fun. Kids felt like astronauts on asphalt (until they rolled an ankle).
3. Tamagotchi
This tiny digital pet demanded your time, attention, and emotional commitment.
Miss a feeding? Your pixelated friend might not make it. Tamagotchis taught kids responsibility in the most 90s way possible.
4. Talkboy
Originally a movie prop from "Home Alone 2," the Talkboy became a real product. Kids could record voices, slow them down, and prank people with hilarious results.
The sound quality was terrible, but the fun? Top tier.
5. Skip-It
It wrapped around your ankle, and you jumped over it as it spun. The built-in counter never quite worked, but kids still used Skip-It to show off playground agility—or trip and fall gloriously.
These childhood treasures were priceless artifacts of our youth. Toys or "entertainment devices," that were simplistic, screenless with the exception of the Tamagotchi and accounts for incalculable hours of enjoyment during our youth. As an added bonus the "authentic" versions of these items will easily fund your child's college fund or serve to splurge on your next summer vacation.
Enjoy your Throwback Thursday and as always, GAME ON 🎮!
