The special little lady on the left turned 6 today!
She’s been in our building literally her whole life. Many of you remember her as the tiny little baby in the carrier on my chest when we had our children’s store. When she was 10 months old, she used to stand at our front door and say “Hi doooogggs” to every puppy that passed and “Hi there!!” as people walked into the store. She graduated to the adorable chair that hooked onto the counter next to the register and while we checked you out, she would babble her version of small talk.
As the years went on and our building grew and changed, so did she. We opened last October and watching her see her name on the window the first time was one of my most favorite things in life. She loves being in the store, talking to customers, she loves fashion and telling people what her favorite “looks” are. She swears she and her best friend, Viv will grow up and have a shop of their own - although she says the shop will have dolphins, so like, maybe that part will need a little workshopping, I don’t know...
This place has helped shape her. She came into this world a huge personality on her own, but this place has really become a part of her. A lot of that if because of all of you! The people that come in and remember her and say hello, ask her how she’s doing or how school is. It’s given her such confidence in herself. She believes in friendship and relationships and it shows everyday. She asked a girl in the ice cream line today if she wanted to be friends. They had been standing next to each other for 8 seconds. She watches you all come in and become part of her life and she takes that with her everywhere she goes. I wish we could all have that quality.
Clearly I’m feeling extra sappy and mommy today, but I just just wanted to share. I love you all a lot. Thank you for loving my girl a lot. She loves you all right back.
