The Pikliz Journey 🇭🇹

My journey with Pikliz started long before Food with Roots.
I learned how to make it firsthand from my extended family. From there, Pikliz followed me into restaurant kitchens, onto menus and eventually onto the shelves of my own restaurants.

But the journey didn’t stop there.

When Food with Roots became the company it is today, I knew Pikliz had to be part of our starting lineup. It was part of the story from day one.

We’ve watched it grow from being stuffed into little 8 oz jars with Avery stickers printed in house, to beautiful 16 oz jars with a professionally illustrated label that help tell the story behind what’s inside.

And somehow, people keep finding our humble jar of Pikliz. Putting it on tacos, hot dogs, sandwiches, rice, grilled meats and probably a few things we haven’t even thought of yet.
Because Pikliz is more than cabbage, carrots, peppers, citrus and vinegar.

It’s a Haitian story in a jar. 🇭🇹

Strong. Powerful. Fiery. Full of life. And able to stand up to just about anything you put next to it.

WE WON! 🏆

Our Pimento Cheese is officially a Startup CPG Shelfie Award winner for Dips & Spreads!

Two years ago, we discovered the Shelfie Awards and quietly set a goal: create a product that could stand toe to toe with the best on the shelf.

Today, we can officially say we did it.

For Food with Roots, this means more than an award. It’s validation that the recipes, the long production days, the demos, the buyer meetings, the lessons, the setbacks and all the little steps forward are building toward something real.

We’re incredibly proud to represent Southern food and our story on shelves, and even more excited about where we go from here.

Thank you to and to every person who has bought a container, shared it with a friend, put us on a shelf or opened a door for us.

Giving a big thank you to Local Yokels for continuing to build and actually do the work of supporting local businesses. You will find one of the best selections of locally made products right here in this store. They undoubtedly have the highest concentration of local products per square foot of space than anyone in the city.
