Today's HGS ALOHA IN ACTION:
These two "angels" (because they're awesome and because I was so blown away by their kindness and generousity that I never got their names🤓🥴) came into the store last Thursday to get lei for their moms.
They wanted to show their appreciation and love for them because they had helped so much with each of their weddings.
That alone is a sweet expression of aloha but then, they REALLY opened it up.
One of the women manages forty-five employees at a flooring company. Last month they had had two sudden deaths within their work crew. So she wanted to do/get something special for everyone in the office...
After some pondering they decided to get a fresh flower lei for every, single person they work with!
So, that day at work, each person got a lei of aloha (and likely a much needed hug) from their boss that said, without words, "I see you, you matter, i'm sorry, we are all grieving and we are all a team".
How cool is that during these rather trying times??
It's that way that a lei, given with aloha, has a way for saying, without words, exactly what needs to be said in any given moment.
THAT is the power of aloha. This is why Hawaii General Store exists, not to sell stuff, but to be a conduit of aloha.
So "mahalo nui" to these two kind, generous and hilarious wāhine for sharing so much aloha with us and all the folks they work with!
And.... auwe! I just heard that Dolly Parton passed away today...💔😭
These two represent so much of we loved about Dolly.
So "Imua" ladies! Keep showing the world how it's done.
