A huge part of my job at Swift is materials research. I’m not an average consumer, and I don’t think that most of our customers are either: I think a lot about environmental impact before I purchase new things. But what “sustainable” and “environmentally conscious” means is far more complex than I understood when I joined the industry over 18 years ago. Key front measurements for running the ‘Geist on your bars:

Handlebar width:
🌙 Dropbar width (the space BETWEEN the hoods of your bars): > 44cm
🪃 Flat or swept back bars: none (I’ll make a video about cable housing and handlebar shape soon tho, cuz that matters)

Vertical clearance options:
🏗️ Sans support rack: >27cm
🪑 With support rack: 22-25cm
‼️ If you have less than 16cm of clearance between the flats of your handlebars and the top of a front rack, you should forget about the Zeitgeist and run the 7.5L Catalyst Pack instead!

Winter is coming

In Seattle that means riding in to work in the dark and clocking out after dusk.

It’s that time of year when sunset sneaks up on your ride home. I’ve been seeing lot of cyclists riding through traffic at dusk without lights, and dang it’s hard to see them!
