Another drool worthy retailer focus from my inspiration day✨
In the cutest district of Burien WA is the sweetest light filled store Paper Delights Burien
White fixtures and oversized images that set the tone of the vignettes with beautifully curated assortments. Each vignette is colored out, each has one candle collection that plays perfectly with the colors and feeling of the vignette. Each vignette also has its own dishtowel and assorted items in Paper Delights Burien custom artwork. From totes to dish towels, notepads, candles and calendars it’s a sight that took my breath away. These pieces are what make these displays stand out. They are stacked high, abundant feeling and are the grounding piece in each display. Custom art that is only available at Paper Delights Burien makes them feel even more special. The green table with the regional art was stunning.
If you are in the Seattle area, you need to take a quick drive to this gorgeous shop, you won’t be disappointed ✨

Inspiration day ✨
I preach about going on inspiration days. It was something Anthropologie mandated. Get out of your stores and go get inspired. Art, magazines and books, a farmers market, other retailers, just get out and get inspired. I preached it yet rarely did it. Yesterday I had the pleasure to go out and get inspired with an amazing retailer Paper Delights Burien. Alicia and Helen took the time and showed me their favorite stores and shopping districts. It is always so incredible to see retail through another retailer’s eye, what we were drawn to (apparently we all have an obsession with tiny things), what products we loved, the display’s, and the architecture and the Swedish gummies. So many incredible stores. My favorite though, Ted Kennedy Watson. I’ve followed him for years but you really don’t have a scope of the magic until you are standing in the middle of it. His curation of products, the colored out vignettes, the cross merchandising, the vintage props and fixtures, the music sheet lined walls, Billy Holiday playing in the background, I could go on and on. The ex president of Anthropologie (Glen Senk) who I worked under for years, had a saying “when I walk through the stores, I want to be gobsmacked”, well, let me tell you, I was truly gobsmacked.
I’m leaving Seattle inspired and full of so much gratitude✨
Thank you to Alicia and Helen for an inspiring afternoon!

3 locations
3 displays
Same merchandise (with the exception of a few items)
Architecture, risers and contextual elements (florals and greens) can completely change the scope of a display.
The size of the tables, the different cacti and the architecture we used to build up each display are all completely different. It’s mind blowing to me just how different each came out.

Ahhhh… the good ol’ days of Jelly Cat being represented by showrooms. I miss being able to create storytelling tabletop displays like this ocean themed setup at the Stephen Young showroom downtown LA. While I’m reminiscing, I really miss the LA Mart.

Suspended branches in a window or above a table is one of my favorite ways to hang items like chimes and bells. Yes you can hang them from the ceiling but why when you can hang a branch? Add hanging florals, feathers or greens to give it a softer touch or holiday feel.
